This report brings the known bat fauna of Guyana to 107 species and the fauna of Iwokrama Forest to 74 species. Measurements, reproductive data, and comments on taxonomy and distribution are provided. This guide includes representative species from all families encountered in the lowlands (< 400 masl), where ca. 75 species possibly occur. The vocalisations of the Critically Endangered Seychelles sheath-tailed bat Coleura seychellensis are described. Four call types are identified : complex social calls, orientation calls within the roost, open habitat orientation calls and foraging calls. The open habitat orientation calls and foraging calls are quasi-CF, the latter having alternating frequencies. The function of the alternating calls is discussed and it is concluded that in this species the lower frequency tone is used for navigation (being identical to the open habitat orientation calls) and the higher frequency tone for prey detection in cluttered environments. Social vocalisations of the Seychelles sheath-tailed bat Coleura seychellensis are described from observation made during the breeding season. Four main call types used in social situations were recorded. These vary from simple screech calls used in aggressive or distressed contexts to appeasement and male ‘song’. Juveniles used a combination of high pitched screeches and appeasement calls to attract lactating females. Males ‘song’ was basic in form, consisting of a single repeated syllable. Individual variation in this syllable was detected in frequency and duration, this allows individual recognition. Amazon River Adventure, March 4 to 18, 2019 Trip Report by Fiona A. We set sail at 1:30 a.m. Dorinha, Ross Baker March 5 We woke up in Janauari Lake in the Paracuuba Channel. Here we boarded canoes that took us to Xiboreninha. We saw many water birds, but the most interesting swimmer was a Southern Tamandua that made its way to dry land and up a tree. It shook and scratched itself repeatedly, perhaps to dislodge ants or termites from its fur. We also saw our first Brown-throated Three-toed Sloths and Proboscis Bats. Later we sailed upstream to a place called Anrá (pronounced uh-ha). We enjoyed views of a number of pretty icterids: Troupial, Yellow-hooded and Oriole Blackbirds, and the ubiquitous Yellow-rumped Cacique. We also saw 5 species of woodpecker and 7 species of parrot. A number of raptors were seen, including the Slate-colored Hawk. We sailed on to Janauacá Lake where we had a night trip at a place called Miuá. We saw Tropical Screech Owl, our first of many Amazon Tree Boas, and watched Lesser and Greater Fishing Bats feeding over the water. Frog diversity was good here too. -

Aunque su distribución va desde México, Brasil hasta Bolivia, en el país centroamericano de El Salvador, la especie no había sido registrada. Se presenta el primer registro documentado mediante fotografías de una pareja de murciélago fantasma, en el ecosistema de manglar en Bahía de La Unión, ubicada en el departamento del mismo nombre. Además, se recomienda el moni- toreo y estudio de esta especie en la zona, para contribuir al conocimiento de su estado de conservación. Abstract The ghost bat Diclidurus albus is considered one of the largest members of the family Emballonuridae in the Neotropics. Its distribution ranges from Mexico, Brazil to Bolivia, but in the Central American country of El Salvador, the species had not been registered yet. We present the first record documented by photographs of a pair of ghost bats in the mangrove ecosystem in Bahía de La Unión, located in the department of the same name. In addition, monitoring and studying this species in the area, to contribute to the knowledge of its conservation status is recommended. -
