Ang birtud nito ay ang pagsasakakatwa (estrangement) ng danas ng salaysay na walang tákot sa pagpapasaksi at pagsisiwalat. Kailangan nating malasap ang pagsasakakatwa da- hil minanhid na táyo ng wala na yatang katuldukang usaping pangkapayapaan sa Mindanao, na mananatili na lámang yatang salita at salitaan. Kailangang muli nating maranasan ang bigat, hindi lámang ng mga salita, kundi lalo na, ng sitwasyong Bangsamoro bílang sinekdoke ng sitwasyong Filipino sa pangkalahatan: masigalot, watak-watak, ngunit kahit sa pagtatatwa ng kaisahan ay maparikalang binubuno ang pagbubuo sa nag- kakaisang lawas. Pero ang alam ko rin, mayroon akong kinabukasan—du’n sigurado ako roon. Sigurado ako na mayroon akong mamaya, mayroon akong bukas. Kung anuman ang nakaraan ko, ang sabi lang sa akin, huwag ko nang itanong. Basta magulo—magulo hindi dahil sa walang nakaaalam pero dahil sadyang magulo raw. Marahas. Sa ganoong pagpa- paliwanag sa akin, sa maraming beses ko nang itinanong sa aking mga magulang, o tumayong mga ‘magulang’ ko, napagod din ako minsan sa pagtatanong. Sabi ko noon sa Santo Tomas, noong nasa kolehiyo pa ako, hindi ko na itatanong, hindi na lang ako magtatanong. Para walang gulo, para wala akong madidiskubreng bago sa aking sarili. Walang mga lihim na mabubunyag sa akin. Walang hinanakit na dadal- hin ko habang-buhay dahil lang sa pagtatanong at pagbubungkal ng mga nakalipas na. Pero isang gabi nanaginip ako, gusto kong pumatay—kahit isang tao lang. Kahit isang beses lang. One time big time na pagpaslang. Ilang beses na akong dinadalaw ng panaginip na ito, halos pare-parehong eksena pero parang hindi ko pinagsasawaan. Gusto ko iyong pagpatay na may pagtatraydor. Ganito ang eksena: Maliwanag ang paligid at tirik na tirik ang araw. Dadalhin ko siya sa isang bakanteng lote—iyong malayo sa ingay at kabihasnan ng siyudad. Isang lugar na hindi ko mapangalanan, hindi mabuo sa akin ang imahen ngunit sigurado ako na mayroong mataas na puno ng kaymito. Sasama siya sa akin dahil nagtitiwala siya. Dahil siguro may isang uri ng dam- damin na namamagitan sa aming dalawa. At kung kaming dalawa na lamang sa lugar sasaksakin ko siya ng kutsilyo sa leeg, walang pasintabi, walang sere-seremonya. Basta sasaksakin ko na lang siya. At habang 1 Rogelio Braga naghihingalo siya bubuhusan ko siya ng gasolina. At sisilaban. Gusto kong marinig ang sigaw niya dahil sa hapdi ng unti-unting nasusunog at umuurong na mga balat. At aamuyin ko ang usok ng nasusunog na laman ng tao. Gusto kong makita kung paano matunaw sa apoy ang mga mata niya. Gusto ko siyang makitang bangkay na nasusunog at nag-aasó pagkatapos. Walang nakasaksi kundi ang puno ng kaymito na nakatunghay sa aming dalawa. Palaging ganito ang panaginip na iyon, dumadalaw sa akin na parang kaibigan na nakasanayan na ang paglisan para ‘pag nagkita kaming muli makikita namin ang halaga ng pagkawalay sa isa’t isa. Sa simula nais kong tanungin sa sarili kung bakit lagi akong binabalikan ng panaginip na ito. Bakit palaging nagtatapos siya sa nag-aasó na bangkay. Dinadalaw ako ng panaginip sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng aking buhay—noong nasa elementarya pa ako, sa high school, noong nasa Santo Tomas na ako na minsan sa retreat sa Tagaytay nagulat na lang ang mga kasama ko at sumisigaw daw ako sa gabi, iyon din ang saktong panaginip ko. Pero ngayon, nadadalas ang pagdalaw sa akin ng panaginip na ito, parang multo na sinusundan ako saan man ako magtago. Nakasanayan ko na tulad ng amoy ng mga unan ko kung saan nakapatong ang ulo ko sa pagtulog. At dahil dito naisipan kong hanapin ang lahat-lahat ng tungkol sa akin. Maaaring may malalaman ako sa aking nakaraan kung babalikan ko ang aking panaginip. Kung haharapin ko marahil ang aking hilig, ang aking nais: kahit isang tao lang, kahit isang beses lang sa aking buhay…gusto kong maranasan ang pagpatay. Ang sabi sa akin ni Nanay Ipang hindi niya raw ako anak. Ganoon din ang sinabi ni Tatay Lando sa akin. Wala silang anak kaya naisipan nilang mag-ampon. Guro sa isang private school noon si Nanay Ipang sa Pasay at abogado naman si Tatay Lando. Marami silang pera pero hindi sila magkaanak. Baog si Tatay Lando, ang sabi sa akin ni Nanay Ipang. Pero ang sabi naman sa akin ni Tatay Lando, wala raw matris si Nanay Ipang. Hindi ko alam kung sino sa kanilang dalawa ang nagsasabi ng totoo pero in- iisip ko na lang ang isang katotohanan sa kanilang dalawa: hindi sila magkaroon ng anak dahil ang pagsasama nilang dalawa bilang mag-asawa ay hindi magbubunga ng anak. Kaya ako inampon. Kaya ako pinalaking parang tunay nilang anak. “Blesilda, ikaw, ampon ka lang. Pero anak ka namin. Huwag kang mag-rebelde tulad ng napapanood mo sa sine na mga inampon, drama lang ‘yon hindi ganoon sa totoong buhay. Wala kang pamilya at kami naman ay wala na ring itinuturing na 2 COLON mga kamag-anak—we have no choice so by force of nature and our circumstances kailangan tayong magsama-sama para mag-survive—naiintindihan mo ba ako?” Ito ang paliwanag sa akin ni Tatay Lando, diretso siyang magsalita. Si Nanay Ipang, ganoon din. Nu’ng nasa high school na ako lalo nilang ipinaliwanag sa akin ang lahat. Huwag kang magtanong kung saan ka nagmula. Huwag kang magtanong kung sino ang tunay mong mga magulang. Hindi na iyon mahalaga, ang laging sinasabi sa akin ni Nanay Ipang. Ang mahalaga, ika niya, ang mamaya, ang bukas, ang kinabukasan mo, “Naiintindihan mo ba ako, Blesilda?” “Opo, naiintindihan ko,” ito palagi ang sagot ko sa kanila noong bata pa ako. Nang pumanaw ang dalawang matanda sa akin ipinamana ang lahat ng kanilang mga ari-arian. Wala rin silang mga kamag-anak. Kaya nang mamatay silang dalawa, mga kaibigan ko lang sa Santo Tomas ang bumisita at ang supervisors at team lead- ers ko sa call center na pinapasukan ko noon sa Makati. Walang ibang dumating sa kamag-anak nilang dalawa. Sabay silang namatay sa isang aksidente sa Baguio, iha- hatid sana noon ni Tatay Lando si Nanay Ipang sa isang seminar sa Teacher’s Camp. Ang sabi sa report, nagitgit daw sila ng truck ng mga gulay kaya nahulog sa bangin ang kotse. Dalawang araw pa bago tuluyang nakuha ang kotse sa bangin. Halos na- tanggal daw ang ulo ni Nanay Ipang. Kaya ang lamay, apat na araw lang. Ayaw ko na itong magtagal dahil wala namang dumadalaw at hindi ko rin maiwanan ang trabaho sa opisina para asikasuhin ang lamay.

Producers used their personal money as their capital in producing tupig. The OTOP owners in Ilocos Norte are already adult, dominated by college graduate and married women. Most of them have not attended seminars and trainings and are not members of professional organizations. Majority of the OTOP businesses in Ilocos Norte have existed for 16-20 years and are engaged in manufacturing and most of them are sole proprietor.
