Guts e Izora Forstwin pertecían a una sencilla familia obrera de la ciudad de Starfall. Su padre, Num tradicional guerrero Numerio, había caído herido en una capaña y se había contratado como artesano de la madera. Su madre habia muerto hace ya 10 años de una gripe que empeoró.

Desde pequeños sus dos hijos destacaron. Gut, llamaba la atención entre los niños por su fuerza y arrojo. No tuvo problemas Num en ingresarlo entre los aprendices de soldados de palacio, desde que cumplió los 8 años. De Izora lo primero que destacó de Izora, fue su belleza. Fue elegida para acompañar en los ritos oficiales y para entrar como iniciada de Neith.

Varios años después Num falleció en pocas semanas tras haber caído desplomado al suelo en el trabajo. Esto les afectó a ambos pero particlarmente a Izora, quien habiendo sido siempre de caracter extremadamente alegre y optimista quedó sumida en una profunda depresión.

Al poco tiempo ocurrió sin embargo algo inédito en la zona. Aunque no había culto establecido en Starfall de Shelyn, Izora se sintió llamada por ella. Quizás lo más grave fue que su manifestación y su transformación en Oráculo de Shelyn, pues tuvo lugar durante una ceremonia de Neith. En ellá entró en trance, y comenzó a cantar de forma particularmente bella . horrorizando aún más si cabe a los asistentes al ritual de Neith a los sacerdotes y autoridades presentes. Durante ese trance quedó ciega, o más bien su visión se transformó.

De dicha transformación, todo cambió tanto interna como externamente. Su depresión desapareció subitamente, su jovialidad había vuelto. Manifestó además habiidades hasta entonces nunca manifestadas y todas ellas a través de la dios Shelyn. En paralelo sus antiguos compañeros y superiores discutían sobre como obrar, si debían juzgar severamente a Izora por semejante herejía y sacrilegio. Aunque el culto a Shelyn no estaba prohibido, era sin duda insultante para el culto más importante en Starfall el haber quedado así de mancillado. La asuencia de un culto a Shelyn en la ciudad no le dotaba a Izora de ninguna protección y eso resultaba muy peligroso.

Guts, en ese momento tomó la decisión de huir del país rumbo sur. Era una idea con la que había jugado en el pasado pero ahora las circuntancias parecían no dejar opciones. Malvendieron en el acto lo poco que tenían y salieron huyendo hacia el sur.

Tu y tu hermana Izora habéis salido de Numeria rumbo sur, buscando oportunidades y un país más libre lejos de la tiranía de Kevoth Kul. El plan es sencillo, ir primero a Tymon, donde como gladiador esperas hacer fortuna para luego con el tiempo pasar a Druma o Andoran buscando pastos más verdes para convertiros en comerciantes.

Con los escasos bienes que teníais comprasteis un pasaje en una caravana hasta Marca de la Daga, la ciudad más grande de los Reinos Fluviales. Una vez allí prosegisteis rumbo al sur en solitario. El camino que une la Marca con Tymon es transitado y pensasteis que no era necesaria compañía aunque tampoco teníais dinero.

Os habéis cruzado varias veces con gente de diferente pelaje aunque ninguno hace ningún ademán extraño. Acampais varias noches junto al camino, si más que un fuego pequeño para daros calor.

Sin embargo, dos noches antes de llegar a Tymon...
