Critical FiveCubits Product Announcement Update & Explorer

AFFECTED PRODUCTS: TrackIt Maps and MapIt (map order entry)

DATE: June 6, 2017

SUMMARY: After 06/06/17, a Maps upgrade will discontinue support for IE 10 and older

CLIENT ACTION REQUIRED

To avoid service disruption, TrackIt customers currently using BING Maps for any TrackIt maps, including MapIt (map order entry) & CommandTrack (with embedded TrackIt) must either:

A) Switch to using (contact FiveCubits helpdesk to switch)

B) Ensure all users are upgraded to: IE 11, Edge, Chrome v40+, or v38+ browsers

DESCRIPTION:

Microsoft’s latest required update of Bing Maps will discontinue support for Browsers version 10 and older. Microsoft will disable functionality effective 06/30/17. Our cutoff for this change is June 6, 2017 to allow for development, testing and implementation of the programmatic changes needed to support these new Microsoft Bing Map requirements.

This was a Microsoft decision and is outside the control of Command Alkon/FiveCubits. We will be notifying our clients over the coming weeks to facilitate this change, as there is a significant number of clients using Bing Maps and old Internet Explorer browsers. We will display messages to those affected by this upcoming change as a reminder that action is required.

Our clients have the option (per TrackIt site) to utilize either mapping provider at no additional cost. The map provider selected will affect all users on a given TrackIt site, this is not a per-user setting. This “switch” can be quickly flipped by having your internal TrackIt Administrator call or email the FiveCubits/TrackIt helpdesk.

In order to determine if you are using Bing, open the TrackIt map and look for the markings shown below in the lower left and lower right of the map.

In order to determine what version of Internet Explorer you are using, open your browser and go to Tools (or Help) -> About Internet Explorer.

Contact the helpdesk with any additional questions.
