10 We are a Caring Community SoCial aCtion in aCtion ReD CRoSS blooD DRiVe, SEPTEMBER 10, 8AM-1:45PM We are pleased to share with the congregation that we had a successful meeting with the American Red Cross and we were able to express our concerns about our previous blood drives including lack of staff and long wait times. At the end of the meeting, we were assured we would be assigned extra staff (in the likely event of no-shows), and that a more realistic schedule would be achieved. The Red Cross agreed that 1.5 hours is the amount of time a volunteer should expect to participate in blood donation and that more than that is unreasonable. With that in mind, we have decided to give it teen volunteers weed and plant flowers in the another go and will proceed with our upcoming Blood Drive garden in memory of Haley nathan z”l. on Sunday, September 10. We will be contacting the congregation by email and hope to hear from you! While recognizing the difficulties of the process, we remain cognizant of the purpose and goal. Blood products are life- saving and blood drives like ours are necessary so we THANK YOU and look forward to a successful drive.
