Las acciones en mención se ejecutaron, de acuerdo a las metas propuestas para el efecto en el Plan Departamental, elaborado para la realización del acompañamiento pedagógico. Las escuelas atendidas fueron seleccionadas por medio de un estudio realizado por USAID en coordinación con el Ministerio de Educación. Detectándose la necesidad de brindar el acompañamiento respectivo en primer grado del nivel Primario, por el bajo rendimiento de los alumnos. Aspectos a mejorar: - Involucramiento de directores en acompañamiento a docentes de primer grado. - Organización inadecuada del aula, según CNB - Poco uso de material didáctico y rincones de aprendizaje. - Metodología, Aprendizaje significativo. - Evaluación formativa. Resultados: - Directores realizan acompañamiento pedagógico a docentes - En las diez escuelas atendidas existe organización en el aula por equipo de trabajo. - Elaboración y utilización de material didáctico: el gusano pedagógico, la mesa de arena, rincones de aprendizaje en las escuelas atendidas. vi - En las diez escuelas seleccionadas utilizan metodología con el aprendizaje significativo. - En los diez centros educativos practican con más frecuencia la evaluación formativa. - Directores y docentes que imparten primer grado en las diez escuelas seleccionadas, participan en comunidad de aprendizaje, compartiendo experiencias, temáticas, etc. El seguimiento a las acciones ejecutadas se realizara por medio del acompañamiento de directores y supervisores a los docentes y Comunidad de Aprendizaje. vii ABSTRACT As part of the Masters in Leadership for Educational Accompaniment, there have been several actions inherent in the educational support in ten schools Primary level municipalities Mataquescuintla and Jalapa, Jalapa department. The shares in question were executed, according to the proposed goals for the effect in the Departmental Plan, prepared for the realization of educational support . The selected schools were attended by a study conducted by USAID in coordination with the Ministry of Education. Detected the need to provide support in the respective Primary first grade level by the low student performance. Areas for improvement: - Involvement of managers in accompaniment to first grade teachers. - Inadequate Classroom Organization, according to CNB - Little use of teaching materials and learning corner. - Methodology, meaningful learning. - Formative Assessment. results: - Directors teachers made pedagogical accompaniment - In the ten schools attended there in the classroom by organizing team. viii - Development and use of teaching materials: pedagogical worm, the sand table, learning corners in schools attended. - In the ten selected schools use meaningful learning methodology. - In the ten schools most often practiced formative assessment. - Principals and teachers who taught first grade in the ten selected schools, participating in learning community , sharing experiences , issues, etc. Tracking the actions executed by the conduct of directors and supervisors accompanying teachers and Learning Community. 1 INTRODUCCIÓN El proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje requiere de la participación activa y consciente de todos los actores que intervienen en el quehacer educativo para obtener una actualización constante y la mejora que se desea cada día. En Guatemala se han realizado esfuerzos para mejorar la calidad de la educación. A través de la Reforma Educativa se han implementado estrategias inherentes a la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, como el Curriculum Nacional Base (CNB) y sus componentes. Sin embargo aunque estos esfuerzos no han sido en vano, ya que han enriquecido y actualizado los procesos educativos, faltan acciones que realizar. Actualmente se cuenta con un estudio realizado por USAID en coordinación con el Ministerio de Educación, en donde se da a conocer el bajo rendimiento de alumnos de primer grado del Nivel Primario de las escuelas que fueron objeto de dicho estudio, ubicadas en los municipios de Mataquescuintla y Jalapa, departamento de Jalapa. Como parte de las acciones realizadas en la Maestría de “Liderazgo en Acompañamiento Educativo” se llevaron a cabo actividades de acompañamiento pedagógico en diez escuelas, del área rural, que presentan altos índices de bajo rendimiento escolar, en primer grado de educación primaria; y que fueron seleccionadas con base al estudio en referencia. Los Objetivos planteados son los siguientes: - General: Contribuir al mejoramiento de la calidad educativa, a través del desarrollo del proceso de acompañamiento pedagógico a nivel de aula, en 10 escuelas de educación primaria, ubicadas en los municipios de Mataquescuintla y Jalapa, departamento de Jalapa. 2 - Específicos: Mejorar el liderazgo del director, en 10 centros educativos del nivel de educación Primaria ubicados en el municipio de Mataquescuintla y Jalapa, departamento de Jalapa. Desarrollar competencias de acompañamiento pedagógico en los directores escolares para apoyar a los docentes a nivel de aula. - Reducir el fracaso escolar en niños y niñas de primer grado por medio del acompañamiento pedagógico. - Formar comunidades de aprendizaje con los centros educativos del nivel Primario involucrados en el proyecto de acompañamiento pedagógico en los municipios de Mataquescuintla y Jalapa, departamento de Jalapa. - Promover la aplicación del proceso de evaluación, utilizando adecuadamente las herramientas de evaluación formativa, en 10 escuelas

There have been reports of at least 21 election-related killings, 46 threats directed at journalists covering the elections and over one-hundred other acts of harassment and intimidation. These have been aimed at intimidating voters, hampering the campaigning process and interfering with freedom of information and association. A recent victim was Japanese/Guatemalan citizen Joji Fukuyama, who was subjected to harassment as a result of his activities with the Alianza Comunitaria Organizada de Derechos Humanos, (ACODH), Alliance of Community Human Rights Organizations. On 1 November, he challenged a number of individuals, reportedly members of the ruling government party, the Frente Republicano Guatemalteco (FRG), Guatemalan Republican Front party, as they were tearing down party political materials posted by opposition parties and replacing them with FRG materials. He was threatened by the individuals who claimed to be members of the army, which is constitutionally barred from carrying out party propaganda or voting in elections. Earlier, in mid-October, Joji Fukuyama was forced to seek protection in private homes after repeatedly being followed by a car with blacked-out windows and no number plates.

[email protected] 609-802-8788 1 Statement Many different LDTCs, Bilingual, ESL and preschool teachers in New Jersey state they have come across Latino children described as having “Little to No Language.” Educators stated that these children were assessed in Spanish and not English. These children are as young as 3, who have been admitted to either Abbot school districts’ preschool programs or Special Education preschool programs. Others are in elementary school up to age 8. These children are more likely to be placed in Special Education, because they are assessed to have “Little to No Language.” The three top reasons from educators that explain this phenomenon are the following: 1. Latino parents of these children have to work multiple jobs, so they do not have time to speak to their children. 2. Latino parents have so little education that there is no language to pass onto their children. 3. These Latino children have learning disabilities. 2 Analysis for reasons to “Little to No Language” Getting a better understanding of where New Jersey’s Latino population originate may lend a better understanding to this “Little to No Language” description. The passenger traffic data from the New York New Jersey Port Authority, who runs all the airports in the area including Newark, JFK and Laguardia, indicate that the majority of the passenger traffic (arrivals and departures) involve 2 market groups: 1.

(Photo: Fundación Sobrevivientes 2009) Peace Brigades International Brigadas Internacionales de Paz Interview with Norma Cruz, Director of the Survivors Foundation Survivor Foundation Norma Cruz founded the organisation in 2001 in support of women who had experienced situations of sexual violence and their families. It was originally called New Hope Association for Female Victims of Violence and their Relatives. Two years later it started to work on cases of intrafamilial violence and fem- icide. It was constituted as the Survivors Foundation in 2006, incorporating into its work the fight against illegal trafficking of children for adoption or sexual exploitation. Since its beginnings, the task of the organisation has been characterised by the search for justice – in cas- es of sexual violence, violent deaths of women and the trafficking of minors. In order to call the issue to the attention of the authorities and public institutions, and demand that they live up to their responsibilities, the foundation has initiated actions such as the “empty cradle” campaign, a sit-in in front of state institutions and a hunger strike. Norma Cruz, her colleagues, and the women who are being supported, have received serious threats, which have increased since they started working on the problem of child trafficking.
