Terry McAuliffe is the 72nd . Since being sworn into office in January 2014, Governor McAuliffe has aggressively focused on building a new Virginia economy. Governor McAuliffe is a businessman, entrepreneur and dad who has lived in Fairfax County, Virginia for over 20 years. He is the son of Jack McAuliffe who was an Army Captain in World War II and Millie McAuliffe who raised Terry and his three brothers.

Governor McAuliffe attended Catholic University and Georgetown Law School. Since being sworn in in January 2014, Governor McAuliffe is making good on his commitment to build a new Virginia economy. To date, he has announced over 935 economic development projects that will result in over 189,200 jobs and over $15.8 billion in capital investment; outpacing every previous Governor.

The Governor’s administration has made unprecedented progress on the restoration of rights to rehabilitated felons who have served their time.

Governor McAuliffe has signed an to further promote environment literacy in Virginia and has established the Virginia Treasures program to promote land conservation, public access to natural areas, cultural history and water quality protection. He has supported historic investments in water quality improvement, particularly in agricultural areas while promoting and expanding the economic health of the agricultural sector of the economy. He is the first Governor to visit all of Virginia’s 37 state parks. He is proud to be the first Virginia Governor since 2008 to chair the Chesapeake Executive Council.

Governor McAuliffe and his wife Dorothy were married in 1988 and made Virginia their home over 20 years ago and raised five children. The have been members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church for two decades.
