OLD TESTAMENT READING Psalm 93 (NLT)

1 The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. 2 Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past. 3 The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. 4 But mighti- er than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these! 5 Your royal laws cannot be changed. Your reign, O Lord, is holy forever and ever.

NEW TESTAMENT READING 1 Corinthians 11:23-34 (NLT)

23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again. 27 So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. 29 For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died. 31 But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. 32 Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world. 33 So, my dear brothers and sisters, when you gather for the Lord’s Supper, wait for each other. 34 If you are really hungry, eat at home so you won’t bring judgment upon yourselves when you meet together. I’ll give you instructions about the other matters after I arrive.

CHURCH COVENANT

LEADER: Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the LORD Jesus Christ as our Savior; and on the profession of our faith we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully renew this covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

CONG: We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to give it a place in our affections, prayers and services above every other organization of human origin.

LEADER: To contribute cheerfully and regularly as God has prospered us, toward the support of the ministry, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout the world.

CONG: We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion; to study the word of God; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance.

LEADER: To walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our service.

CONG: We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, bear one another’s sorrows; and to cultivate Christian courtesy;

LEADER: To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Savior to secure it without delay.

ALL: When we remove from this place, we engage as soon as possible to unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Lift every voice and sing, till earth and heaven ring Ring with the harmonies of Liberty Let our rejoicing rise, high as the list’ning skies Let it resound loud as the rolling sea Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us Facing the rising sun of a new day begun Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chast’ning rod Felt in the days when hope unborn had died Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet Come to the place for which our Fathers sighed We have come over a way that with tears has been watered We have come, treading our path thro’ the blood of the slaughtered Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years, God of our silent tears Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way Thou who hast by thy might, led us into the light Keep us forever in the path, we pray Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand True to our God, true to our native land
