The of Christ Church St Laurence The Choir is one of the oldest continuing choral groups in The Choir of Christ Church St Laurence Australia and was founded shortly after the consecration of the church in 1845. It performs an extensive repertoire spanning over a thousand years, incorporating music from Sacred Music of the 10th century through to the works of 21st century composers, with a special emphasis on th performing music from the polyphonic schools of the 16 & Calendar 17th centuries. The Choir sings every Sunday at the 10.30am April to May 2018 High Mass and again at the 6.30pm which uses the 1662 . Special music is also provided for all major festivals and feasts throughout the church’s calendar. Apart from this commitment to liturgical worship the Choir regularly gives concerts, is frequently heard on national radio and has made a number of recordings. Friends of the Choir ‘The Friends’, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009, provides support and encouragement for the Choir’s many activities. Over two hundred members world-wide currently receive the Choir’s informative newsletter ‘Canticum Novum’. Social activities each year enable the Choir to meet its friends and vice versa. Members of ‘The Friends’ are always welcome to accompany the Choir on its concert tours. The time, skills and finances graciously provided by ‘The Friends’ enable the Choir to grow with strength and to continue the musical heritage at Christ Church St Laurence. T  A P  St Laurence Music Inc. hosts a monthly recital at Christ Church St UPCOMING RECITALISTS: CHRIST CHURCH ST LAURENCE Laurence on the famous 1892 Hill & Son Organ. The series presents the R S, S 15 April – Nico Tjoelker (St Stephen’s Macquarie St, Sydney) C finest in local, interstate and international visitors, and previous recitalists have included guests from Australia, Germany, the , 20 May – Colin Andrews (USA) Poland and the United States. 17 June – Mark Quarmby (St Stephen’s Macquarie St, Sydney) Entry to the recital is by ‘note’ donation (no bookings are necessary), and 15 July – Alistair Nelson (St James’ King Street, Sydney) funds raised support the work of St Laurence Music, Inc. The recital is Organ Recitals followed by an afternoon tea, where the audience has the opportunity to 19 August – Heather Boyd (Scots Church, Mosman) meet the recitalist.
