French joie de vivre and Ger- man tradition have produced a cultural fusion in Koblenz, with co- zy wine taverns, a genuinely welcoming atmosphere and great food - from gourmet cuisine to hearty fare. Highlights include the old castle of Ehrenbreitstein which dominates the right bank of the Rhine, the 12th century Alte Burg Castle and old Koblenz town. Day 2 Koblenz - Moselkern - Cochem 30 km The boat brings you to Alken where you start your first bike tour to Moselkern. Considered to be one of the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley, where the river curves, lies the old town of Co- chem. Stroll through the historical town featuring half-timbered houses, or spend a bit of time exploring the impressive Reichsburg Castle. Day 3 Cochem - Zell on the Mosel 40 km Today you cycle to Beilstein where you enjoy this beautiful city during a city tour. Day 5 Bernkastel-Kues - Piesport - Mehring 45 km In the morning you visit the largest winegrowers´ co-operative alongside the Moselle in Piesport, join an optional excursion of a guided tour to historic Roman cellars and vineyards. Then you cy- cle to Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine-grower town of Germany. After lunch you go on to Mehring today´s destination. Day 6 Mehring - Trier 26 km You pedal along to Trier/Konz where the boat awaits you. Enjoy the city with its well-known roman city gate and impressive build- ings - Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany.     Wine Estates in Germany BOLLIG-LEHNERT Trittenheim & Piesport Region: MOSEL-SAAR-RUWER Vineyards: Trittenheim (Apotheke, Altärchen) Piesport (Goldtröpfchen, Falkenberg) Dhron (Dhron- Hofberger) Varietals: Riesling Owner: the Bollig family Winemaker: Stefan Bollig Remarks: appealing, light & stylish, crisp predicate Mosel wines Stefan Bollig, is young (vintage 1961!) and passionately devoted to his work, is a fine example of the new generation of Mosel vintners. The family has been producing wine since the 17th Century, but new cellars and house have been built on the outskirts of Trittenheim. Stefan and his wife Jill live in the former estate house in Piesport at the foot of the Goldtröpfchen vineyard (one of the most famous vineyard sites in the Mosel, if not all of Germany), welcoming visitors at their quaint Gutsauschank (wine-pub with light local food). The family tends to the 4 hectares (10 acres) of estate vineyards themselves. These steeply sloping vineyards are composed mainly of slatey soil that imparts a delicate mineral flavor to the wines. Stefan has been managing the estate since 1987, after completing his viticultural studies and practical experience in Trier and Bad Kreuznach, although his father is still actively involved. Dedication to the estate and costly investments has achieved a high standard of quality. Not many small estates would invest into such an expensive and modern low-pressure tank press which is so essential for producing a clear and clean must. The wines ferment and mature in wooden Fuder (1,000 liters) casks in the cool underground cellars, the natural sweetness being retained, where appropriate. Stefan Bollig's wines are stylish, crisp and classic with a fine fruity elegance and good mineral content, not showing excessive sweetness.

    Kulturweg Wasserbillig Sentier culturel de Wasserbillig Projekt der Gemeinde Mertert mit Untertstützung von Projet de la Commune de Mertert avec le soutien de Fonds européen agricole pour le développement rural: l‘Europe investit dans les zones rurales Wandel im ländlichen Raum und nachhaltige Dorfentwicklung Das Gesetz vom 18. April 2008 zur Förderung der Entwicklung des länd- lichen Raumes strebt in seinem thematischen Schwerpunkt III eine Ver- besserung der Lebensqualität im ländlichen Raum sowie die Diversifi- zierung der ländlichen Wirtschaft an. Dabei gilt es, den ländlichen Raum insgesamt zu stärken, nach dem Prinzip der Subsidiarität und im Sinne eines ausgewogenen Ausgleichs zwischen Stadt und Land. Nicht gleichar- tige, sondern gleichwertige Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen gegenüber den städtischen Gebieten sollen der Landbevölkerung angeboten werden. Um die ökonomischen und soziokulturellen Strukturen auf dem Lande oder in den Dörfern zu verbessern bzw. weiter zu entwickeln, wurden im Schwer- punkt III des Ländlichen Entwicklungsprogramms PDR 2007 – 2013 sieben verschiedene Fördermaßnahmen zusammengestellt. Diese Maßnahmen richten sich sowohl an öffentliche wie private Projektträger oder auch an lokale Vereine als Initiatoren. Neben der Förderung der landwirtschaftlichen, wein- u. garten- oder waldbaulichen Sektoren sieht dieser PDR-Programmschwerpunkt weitere Maßnahmen zur Unternehmensgründung und -entwicklung so wie zur Be- rufsbildung und Informationsvermittlung vor. Auch das Angebot des Tourismus im ländlichen Raum soll qualitativ er- weitert werden. Unter dieser Maßnahme wurde demnach das Projekt „Kulturweg Wasserbillig“ der Gemeinde Mertert durch unser Departement Ländliche Entwicklung unterstützt. Zusätzlich sollen die Grundversorgung sowie die Dienstleistungen für die Landbevölkerung und die ländliche Wirtschaft verbessert werden. 2 weitere Massnahmen des PDR-Schwerpunktes 3 setzen schließlich den Fokus auf die integrierte ländliche Entwicklung mit der nachhaltigen Dorfer- neuerung sowie der Aufwertung des ländlichen Naturerbes.

    JAHRESCHRONIK DER ORTSGEMEINDE ZERF 2019 Vorwort des Redaktionsteams Liebe Mitbürgerinnen und Mitbürger, liebe auswärtige Leser der Zerfer Chronik! Das Redaktionsteam, dem die Mitglieder Alfred Gelz, Rainer Hansen, Theo Hasse, Thomas Keyser und Bruno Thiel angehören, freut sich, Ihnen die Jahreschronik der Ortsgemeinde Zerf zum Ende des Jahres 2019 präsentieren zu dürfen. Als Team hatten wir unsere Arbeit Anfang Oktober 2019 aufgenommen und uns seitdem zu wöchentlichen Sitzungen getroffen, in denen wir uns mit dem Inhalt der Chronik befasst hatten. Wir waren bemüht, die wesentlichen Themen des Jahres 2019, die, wie wir annehmen, die Zerfer Bürgerinnen und Bürger berühren, in unserer Chronik zu dokumentieren. Unser besonderer Dank gilt den Zerfer Ortsvereinen für ihre Text- und Fotobeiträge, welche einen wesentlichen Bestandteil unserer Chronik darstellen. Wir danken besonders Herrn Forstamtmann Helmut Gödert für das Interview, der Kath. Pfarrgemeinde und der Kath. Frauengemeinschaft für ihre Berichte. Unser Dank gilt ebenfalls der Kindergartenleitung und der Grundschulleitung für ihre Beiträge sowie Herrn Klaus Roth für seine Ausführungen zur deutsch-französischen Partnerschaft Vermentonnais. Im Besonderen danken wir auch der Verbandsgemeindeverwaltung Saarburg-Kell für die Bereitstellung einzelner wichtiger Daten. For many years it was an important mining district for high volatile bituminous coals. The Saar Nahe Basin (SNB) is an intramontane late orogenic sedimentary basin in the internal zone of the Variscan mountain belt originated in the Carbon era (Westphalian A to the Stephanian D). The coal deposit consists of approxi- mately 500 coal seams with a cumulative thickness of more than 150 m and a coal content of about 120 billion m³ (Juch, 1994).
