IMPACT OF NHPRC IN

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) promotes the preservation and use of America's documentary heritage essential to understanding our democracy, history, and culture. Since 1964, the NHPRC has awarded $207 million to 4,900 projects in all 50 states and special jurisdictions.

Total Cost of Projects supported by NHPRC in Oklahoma:

Projects of Special Value to the State of Oklahoma:

The NHPRC has played a unique role in supporting historical RECORDS and PUBLICATIONS projects of special value to Oklahoma including:

 Documenting the history of the people of Oklahoma - projects to preserve the papers of James R. Jones, long-time Oklahoma representative; archives of the American Choral Directors Association, headquartered in ; an archives and records management program for the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, the Iowa Tribe, the Pawnee, the Chickasaw, the Cherokee, the Miami, the Apache, the Delaware Tribe of , and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.

 Historical documentary editions - grants to Southwestern Oklahoma State University for the selected Papers of Chief John Ross and to the University of Oklahoma Press to print volumes of the Papers of Chief John Ross, the Correspondence of Louis Brandeis and Felix Frankfurter, and the North American Journals of Prince Maximillian of Wied.

 State and Local Government Archives Support – To support to the state historical records advisory board; regrants programs; digitization workshops; disaster preparedness; and the Oklahoma Tribe Heritage Project.
