PUBLIC LIBRARY, MUSEUM, NATIONAL GALLERY, UNI- VERSITY, BONYTHON HALL, EXHIBITION BUILDING, and SCHOOL OF MINES APPLIED SCIENCE MUSEUM are on the northern side of North Terrace. BOTANIC GARDEN: Entrance from North Terrace opposite East Terrace. The following trams pass the gates:— St. Peters, Paradise, Payneham, Magi 11, Tranmere, Rostrevor, Morialta, and Hackney. Open daily, admission free. The Botanic Park is at the rear of the Garden. ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS: Entrance from Frome Road. Take Walkerville car to Pennington Terrace (one section), or walk along North Terrace to Frome Road. KOALA BEAR FARM: In Parklands between Walkerville car line and Zoological Gardens. FIRE BRIGADE STATION: Wakefield Street. Inspection by arrangement. TORRENS LAKE: King William Road. Boats for hire. Bordered by Elder Park (south bank) and Memorial Drive (north bank). ADELAIDE OVAL: Between Torrens Lake and St. Peter's Cathedral, on King William Road; tennis courts at rear of oval (entrance from Memorial Drive). ST. PETER'S ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL: King William Road. William Light overlooking . ^ the city at Mpntefiore Hill, near Municipal Golf Links. \j J CK • i 0^' \ -Ai.-' i ^ i ^ THE MOUNT LOFTY RANGES Few cities are as fortunately placed as Adelaide in that the distance from the General Post Office to the foothills is barely four miles, and a few minutes' motor run takes the visitor into the heart of the mountains. All the year round, the Ranges have a fascinating appeal and tours of an hour or so duration, or an extended holiday, may be arranged through the Tourist Bureau. Ask for leaflets describing these lovely ranges and details of daily motor tours. SEEING ADELAIDE BY MOTOR To afford visitors an opportunity of inspecting the City, the Government Tourist Bureau conducts regular tours of the garden city and environs. SUBURBAN SEASIDE RESORTS SEASIDE RESORTS (within half an hour's journey by rail, tram, or bus from the city).—Long stretches of clean shelving sand and bathing facilities are features of these modern seaside resorts. From north to south, the main beaches are:— LARGS: Train from North Terrace or trolley bus from Hindley Street. SEMAPHORE: Same transport as for Largs. GRANGE: Train from North Terrace. HENLEY BEACH: Tram from Currie Street, or train from North Terrace. GLENELG: Tram from Victoria Square, or bus from North Terrace for Graymore and Somerton, adjoining Glenelg. BRIGHTON: Train from North Terrace, also a bus service between Glenelg and Brighton. SEACLIFF: Train from North Terrace, also bus service from Glenelg. MARINO AND KINGSTON PARK (a National Pleasure Resort) : Take Marino train from North Terrace. SWIMMING— At all metropolitan beaches, and— Olympic Pool (fresh water) : King William Road. Henley Pool (salt water) : Open air. Tram to Henley Beach. For approximate mileages—Refer to map overleaf. Consult the Bureau for latest train or tram timetables. AERODROME— The Adelaide Airport is at present at Parafield, 1 1 miles north of the city, but a nev^ airport is in the course of construction at West Beach, 3 miles west of Adelaide. MORIALTA AND WATERFALL GULLY NATIONAL RESERVES PARK Moriaka Falls Reserve.—Situated 7 miles from Adelaide The largest of the "People's Playgrounds" is the NATIONAL in the Mount Lofty Ranges and connected with the city by PARK, 2,000 acres in extent, situated at Belair, in the Mount electric tram and bitumen road.
