Cilddewi Fawr, Llannon, .

OBJECTIONS TO PENDERI SOLAR FARM

1.I strongly object to the proposed development of such a large scale solar farm at this location.

2.Our home and business is neighbouring the area of the proposed development which will have an unacceptable visual impact on the landscape

3. The significant and unprecedented traffic on the narrow country lanes, will make running our well established business extremely difficult and will undoubtedly have a direct negative economic effect. These roads were built and maintained to service the existing rural, small scale family businesses and country cottages. They are not suitable for heavy development and large, heavy vehicles. Such transport will also pose a serious risk to all individuals currently using the road for such purpose.

5. The farm business runs a dairy enterprise, with land and buildings at both Cilddewi Fawr and Gelliwernen, being directly impacted by the development.

6. In my opinion the local area is incorrectly described as ‘poor’ land. The locality and area of development has and continues to be used for highly productive grassland based, dairy farming. The endless working examples of such farms can be seen from visiting the area.

7. The proposed development at Site A will deface a 1.4 km stretch of thistypical wooded rural valley running from Pont Morlais in the North to Goitre Wen in the South and will have an unacceptable visual impact upon my home and neighbouring properties including Penderi Well Farm, Ciddewi Uchaf, Blaenhiraeth Fach, Keepers Lodge, Llwynon, Gelliwernen Lodge and Gelliwernen Farm.

This site is also visible from the accident prone A476 at many places along its route along the western side of the valley.4.Development of Site A is likely to cause unacceptable glint and glare at my home which overlooks the site but doesn’t even feature in the Glint and Glare report undertaken by the developer. The valley is used by low flying aircraft from time to time and wildfowl are frequently seen flying up and down the valley which are likely to be effected by glint and glare which will only be partially mitigated by so called antiglare glass.

8.If development of Site A is refused this will avoid any potential damage to the grade 11 listed Cilddewi bridge at Goitre Wen and avoid lengthy runs of power cable from this remote location to Blaenhiraeth Farm.

9.If development at Site A is refused this will avoid any impact on the accessroute along the U2309 Cilddewi Road which is unsuitable for heavy traffic. 10. If the proposed development goes ahead, there is no way that any meaningful farm business could be carried on from the current ex-dairy farm. The admission of the current owners that there is no family members interested in continuing to run the farm business shows that the development is nothing more than a money making venture, that makes redundant land that would be in demand for farming in the locality.

12. This development, with the notable exception of the two individuals involved, is to the detriment of all other residents of the locality.

11. The removal of fertile land from farming; silage and dairy/cattle farming cannot be continued under solar panels, takes an opportunity to farm and produce environmentally friendly food, away from the next generation in the locality.
