THE ANNUAL MEETING. An Annual Meeting of the Society was held in the Library of the Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society's House, 5 Quay Street, Car- marthen, on the i2th November, 1921, the Rev. George Eyre Evans in the chair. The Secretary's Report (which recommended separating the office of Secretary from that of Editor) was received and adopted, and the accounts, which showed the following results, were approved : BALANCE SHEET FOR THE PERIOD 1919— 21. The Society shall be limited to 300 members, out of whom shall be elected a President, Vice-Presidents, a Treasurer, Editor, and Sec- retary, and 15 other members (to be elected annually) of the Society, who shall form the Council, of whom four shall be a quorum. 2. New members may be enrolled by the Secretary, but their elec- tion shall not be complete until it shall have been confirmed by the Council. 3. The government of the Society shall be vested in the Council. 4. Vice-Presidents, when once elected, shall hold the office so long as they continue members of the Society. The President shall be chosen for one year, but may be re-elected. 5. There shall be an Editorial Committee, consisting of the Editor and five members, who shall superintend the publications of the Society, and shall report their proceedings annually to the Council. 6. All members shall pay one guinea, in advance, on ist of March in each year to the Secretary, and members wishing to withdraw from the Society must give three months notice to the Secretary of such intention, and must pay up at the same time all arrears of subscriptions. 7. All members whose subscriptions are not in arrear shall be en- titled to receive all publications of the Society, for the period covered by their subscriptions, except any special publications issued under its auspices. 8. All subscriptions received shall at once be paid by the Secretary into Lloyd's Bank Limited, to the credit of the Treasurer, and all cheques shall be drawn by the Treasurer for the payment of biUs against the Society, and such bills shall be countersigned by the Secretary or Chairman of the Council, before they are paid by the Treasurer. 9. The Council shall meet at least once a year to transact any busi- ness that may be brought before it, and the Chairman of the Council, shall have power to call a special meeting, of which a fortnight's notice shall be given to each member of the Council. 10. A general annual meeting shall be held yearly, when the reports of the Council and officers of the Society shall be submitted, officers elected, any alteration of the laws approved, the accoimts audited, and any other business discussed and approved. 11. Any member wishing to make an alteration in the laws must give one month's notice to the Secretary before the Annual Meeting, of his intention to move such a resolution, accompanied by a copy of such proposed resolution. 12. A special meeting of the Council shall be convened by the Chair- man on the requisition of three members thereof, such meeting to be held within one calendar month from the date of the receipt of the requisition ; at least 14 days notice to be given, the special business to be stated on the circular convening the meeting and also in the re- quisition.   • An Early Medieval Cemetery and Circular Enclosure at Felindre Farchog, North Pembrokeshire
    100 Archaeology in Wales 56 AN EARLY MEDIEVAL CEMETERY AND CIRCULAR ENCLOSURE AT FELINDRE FARCHOG, NORTH PEMBROKESHIRE Chris Casswell1 , Rhiannon Comeau2 , and Mike Parker Pearson3 with contributions by Mark Bowden4 , Rebecca Pullen5 , David Field 6, Charlene Steele7 and Kate Welham8 Surveys and excavation were undertaken by the Stones of Stonehenge project in 2014 and 2015 at a site near Felindre Farchog, North Pembrokeshire. The site — a 30m-diameter circular earthwork discovered from the air in 2009 — was investigated for the possibility that it might be a flattened prehistoric burial mound or even the remains of a dismantled stone circle or a small henge. Excavation revealed it to be a circular enclosure and an inhumation cemetery of early medieval type within and around an apparently natural mound. Twenty-one east- west grave cuts were identified, some of which were slate-lined. No human remains have survived in this acidic soil. The only artefact found within a grave was a small blue glass bead likely to date to the early medieval period. The burial ground is likely to date to the period before burial in churchyards became the norm, which could have been as late as the 12th century. Figure 1.     NEWS RELEASE Issued by the Telephone 02920 395031 Boundary Commission for Wales Caradog House Fax 02920 395250 1-6 St Andrews Place Cardiff CF10 3BE Date 25 August 2004 FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCIES IN THE PRESERVED COUNTY OF DYFED The Commission propose to make no change to their provisional recommendations for five constituencies in the preserved county of Dyfed. 1. Provisional recommendations in respect of Dyfed were published on 5 January 2004. The Commission received eleven representations, five of which were in support of their provisional recommendations. Three of the representations objected to the inclusion of the whole of the Cynwyl Elfed electoral division within the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency, one objected to the name of the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency and one suggested the existing arrangements for the area be retained. 2. The Commission noted that, having received no representation of the kind mentioned in section 6 (2) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, there was no statutory requirement to hold a local inquiry. The Commission further decided that in all the circumstances they would not exercise their discretion under section 6 (1) to hold an inquiry. Final recommendations 3. The main objection to the provisional recommendations was in respect of the inclusion of the Cynwyl Elfed electoral division in the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency. It was argued that the division should be included in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr on the grounds that the majority of the electorate in the division fell within that constituency and that inclusion in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr rather than Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire would reduce the disparity between the electorates of the two constituencies and would bring them closer to the electoral quota.

Sustainable Development 1.1 The Carmarthenshire Well-being Assessment (March 2017) looked at the economic, social, environmental and cultural wellbeing in Carmarthenshire through different life stages and provides a summary of the key findings. The findings of this assessment form the basis of the objectives and actions identified in the Draft Well-being Plan for Carmarthenshire.   • Dafydd Coslett Thomas, Eleanor His Wife and Their Six Children Emigrated to Patagonia on the Thames in 1875
    A number of people from Carmarthenshire, or who had connections with the county, emigrated to the Welsh Colony in Patagonia, and here is a little information about some of them. DAVID BOWEN, TRES CASAS David Bowen is said to have been born in Trelech-a’r-Betws, Carmarthenshire in 1844 but as a young man he moved to Pentre in the Rhondda and married Mary Anne Williams. In 1875 David, Mary and their children sailed for Patagonia on the Olbers and landed near the estuary of the Chubut on 31 October 1875. The family moved soon afterwards from Rawson to Drofa Fresych where they stayed for nearly three years. Early in 1878 the family moved to Gaiman where David Bowen built a house at the foot of the hills. At the beginning of winter 1879 they moved to a smallholding in Dyffryn Uchaf, an area later called Trebowen. When a chapel was built at Trofa Gwen Ellis, David became a member and an officer of the chapel. A new location was found for the chapel and it was named Bethesda. He served as both deacon and Secretary of Bethesda Chapel. He was one of the small band who went up to rocks at the top of Dyffryn Uchaf to search for somewhere to build a canal. His knowledge of the lands of Dyffryn Uchaf was of great advantage to those who were looking to build their homes in that area. David and Mary Anne’s eldest son and a daughter died of Typhoid in 1883. Thomas married Elizabeth Knowles, Marged Ann married Alun Meirion Williams, Mary Jane married Adrian Eusebio López, Hannah married William John Lloyd and Sarah married José Isabel Quiroga.
