NATURE OF HAZARD: FLOODS In Andhra Pradesh situation is getting better with Bhadarachallam road connectivity getting restored and Communication improving. Flood Situation is under control as the Rivers in Andhra Pradesh are flowing at Low Flood Levels. Flood situation in got better with re-ceding water level in and Viswamitri rivers flowing below the danger level. With reducing inflow at Kadana and Panam dams, overall situation is getting better in Pacnhmahals, Kheda and Anand also In also situation is getting much better as Tapi at Ukai dam is flowing with falling trend In Maharashtra River Godavari is flowing below the danger level. River Bheema (at Deongaon), District Bijapur in Karnataka is flowing at 407.20 as against the danger level of 407m.This is also the highest level ever reached at this point. Water level is forecasted to fall. IMD Forecast Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls (25 cms or more) likely over southwest Madhya Pradesh Isolated heavy to very heavy falls also likely over & Kutch, southeast Rajasthan, northwest Madhya Pradesh, north Marathawada and north Madhya Maharashtra. . KARNATAKA In Karnataka, the affected districts were Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Gulbarga and Raichur. 1. Gulbarga – In all 55 villages had been affected of which 32 were on the banks of river Bheema and 23 villages were on the banks of Krishna River. 2. Bijapur – More than 250 people had been shifted to camps. 3. Belgaum – Three talukas of Raibag, Athani and Chikkodi had been affected covering 49 villages. 21,017 people from 5,094 families had been evacuated. Road communication was cut off in approximately 21 villages. 47 boats had been pressed into service. 4. Raichur –Along the rivers Bheema and Krishna 15 villages and five islands had been affected

DAMAGE DETAILS:

MAHARASHTRA Number of affected families in Maharashtra is 317840 and number of persons affected is11, 57904. 16 lives lost during last 24hrs taking the toll to 478 since June1, 2006. The other damage details are being assessed.

ADMINISTRATIVE MEASURES:

GUJARAT • Electric connections are getting restored and more are expected to be restored by another day or so. • City is being cleared of the garbage. Dumpers and Machines are being used. • 3000 tonnes of waste collected on Saturday against a daily average of 1000 ton • Six new sites have been identified as all five sites outside the city are full. All the waste will be treated • As per the official figure 6 lac leters milk was supplied while 10,000 packets distributed free

.In Vaodara’s Block all 140 marooned people were evacuated and those in need are being provided medical treatment at Vadodara’s civil hospitaL

MAHARASHTRA Relief and rescue work is on.60 boats have been deployed for rescue work. 879relief camps have been opened. 472866persons have been evacuated.

NGOs Intervention: Group of NGOs comprising OXFAM, CARE, CRS and Action Aid are conducting Inter Agency Assessment of the field situation. On the basis of the assessment outcome relevant interventions would be planned. A meeting is scheduled today in . NGO Coordination Meeting at Vadodara: On 13th August 06,District Collector, Vadodara convened a meeting of NGOs to appraise the NGOs regarding present flood situations in the district, steps taken by the administration and regarding future planning on flood relief. The NGOs include Shroff Foundation Trust, Baroda Citizen Council, United Way of Baroda etc has been involved in relief activities during the flood situation in Padara, , Chhotaudepur, Naswadi and Talukas and Certai areas of Vadodara city. UNICEF: It’s in the process of procuring health related items for Gujarat. UNDP: UNV are trying to assist in coordinating meeting between stakeholders.
