Frozen Fire & Lights Thank You The Town of Inlet and the Inlet Area Business Association would like to say Thank You to all those who made the 16th Annual Fire & Lights a great success!

The day began with the coronation of King Matthew Miller, his Queen Amanda and Princess Lorelei in the gazebo on Legion Square. Former King and Queen Bruce and Margie O’Hara did the honors. The king & queen went through the day attending all the activities handing out beads, trophies and medals.

The Inlet Youth Commission had a nice turnout for their Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop held at the Inlet Town Hall where children could also get their face painted by Becky Hasemeier, with help from Brenna Marleau.

The Inlet Public Library held a book sale, the Bay Café and Market offered free samples of their wood-fired pizza, Fourth Lake Wine & Spirits offered free wine tasting and charcuterie and there was a happy hour at The Woods Inn.

At Fern Park, the lack of snow did not keep everyone away. A many took to the trails on skishoes. Tom Gibson of Trackers Skishoes was on site giving people the chance to try out these hybrid snowshoes that glide. The ice skating rink, unfortunately, did not hold up. The sledding hill had a good amount of snow on it and with special thanks to Paul Chambers, Dennis Hudson, Brad Fox and the Crew 7 Explorers made for some fun sledding.

The 8th Annual Cardboard Sled Race had 8 entries that were registered by Adele Burnett and Margie O’Hara, inspected by Bruce O’Hara and then sent down the hill one at a time while members of Crew 7 were standing by to assist if needed. Each was allowed more than one trip down while Robin Murdock and Jo Marsala recorded the times and kept track of the best. The king, queen and princess handed out trophies and every participant (including pushers) received a medal. Spectators were kept informed of all of this by master of ceremonies Dennis Hudson.

Even though the groomed tack was ready for racers, unfortunately the warm weather kept the snowmobiles away for the Youth Snowmobile Races. Not wanting to disappoint the spectators, Princess Lorelei took a few laps on her Yamaha 200.

After 5:00 people started gathering around the bonfire at Arrowhead Park – firewood provided by Mary’s White Pine Bakery. Promptly at 7:00 PM began the awesome display of fireworks by American Fireworks out of Utica. After the fireworks, many wandered over to Matt’s Draft House @ Screamen Eagle for Wine & Chocolate Sampling or over to The Woods Inn to listen to Doug Green.
