Jantz Stadium (3,500) - Winfield, Kan. SOUTHWESTERN QUICK HITS Nov. 15 at McPherson 1:30 p.m. McPherson Stadium (3,500) - McPherson, Kan. -Southwestern and Bethany will meet on the football field for the 66th time Saturday afternoon in a 1:30 p.m. contest on the turf of Anderson Stadium in Lindsborg. The Swedes own a 32-31-2 advantage in the all-time 2014 SOUTHWESTERN COACHING STAFF series with the Moundbuilders, but Southwestern earned a 28-21 win on a last second touchdown reception that On the Field... made the ESPN highlight reels a year ago in Winfield. -Ken Crandall (Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator) -Jimmie Tagg (Co-Defensive Coordinator) -Southwestern is hoping to ride the momentum of perhaps the biggest win in program history with a 27-6 win -Wyatt Jiru (Running Backs) over No. 3 Tabor last week. The win was the Moundbuilders’ first win over a ranked opponent since the 2012 -Victor Redd (Wide Receivers) season. In the Press Box... -Senior Vince Folston and junior Eric Walker were selected as the NAIA Special Teams and Defensive Player of the -Andy Krause (Co-Defensive Coordinator) Week, respectively, for their efforts in last week’s win over nationally-ranked Tabor. Folston blocked field goals on -Mark Scott (Special Teams Coordinator, Linebackers) back-to-back Tabor possessions, and his presence may have influenced the Tabor kicker, who pushed a 33-yard -Jonathon Lyons (Tight Ends) attempt wide right, and missed a point-after-touchdown attempt later in the game. Walker, meanwhile, was in on 17 tackles, and anchored a Southwestern defense that held Tabor’s prolific ground game to less than half of its season average. Four of Walker’s 17 tackes were for loss. He also forced a fumble that led to a scoop-and-score touchdown to give the Moundbuilders a 27-0 lead in the fourth quarter. -Senior Linebacker Paul Mata is making his final year as a Moundbuilder a memorable one. Mata is currently ranked No. 5 in the NAIA with 12.0 tackles per game. Junior Eric Walker sits just above Mata, and is ranked No. 3 in the nation with 13.2 tackles per game.
