The Builders have won four-straight decisions over the Threshers after last season’s 27-13 victory in -Joe Pirillo (Offensive Line) Winfield. Bethel’s last win came on Oct. 11, 2008 when the Threshers defeated Southwestern, 38-18, in Winfield. -Andrew Krause (Co-Defensive Coordinator) The Moundbuilders have been especially difficult for the Threshers to beat at home. With a -Branden Davis (Outside Linebackers) game-winning touchdown catch that can only be described as “amazing,” Southwestern defeated Bethany, 28-21, to earn the 500th win in the storied history of Moundbuilder Football. After jumping -Nick Qualls (Tight Ends) to snag a pass from Brady May, Vargas came down on top of a Bethany defender, broke two other Bethany tackles, and carried three Swedes into the end zone for the game-winning score. His play was featured on ESPNU’s Great 8 Plays show, and was declared the show’s champion for the week. Vargas will now be pitted against the best play on next week’s show, with a chance to advance to the following week. -Lorenzo Fouts is making the most of his senior season with the Moundbuilders. Fouts is currently ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in Total Interceptions (6), and No. 4 in Passes Defended per Game (1.8).
