O presente trabalho consiste de uma sinopse taxonômica dos gêneros da família Lauraceae no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Constatou-se a ocorrência de cerca de 109 espécies distribuídas em 16 gêneros: Aniba Aubl., Aiouea Aubl., Beilschmiedia Nees, Cassytha L., Cinnamomum Schaeff., Cryptocarya R. Br., Endlicheria Nees, Licaria Aubl., Mezilaurus Kuntze ex Taub., Nectandra Rol. ex Rottb., Ocotea Aubl., Persea Mill., Phyllostemonodaphne Kosterm., Pleurothyrium Nees, Rhodostemonodaphne Rohwer & Kubitzki e Urbanodendron Mez. Foi elaborada uma chave para identificação dos gêneros, fornecidos descrições e comentários sobre cada um deles, com distribuição geográfica, número de espécies no Brasil e no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, como também é disponibilizada uma lista preliminar das espécies ocorrentes no Estado. Correlations between the essential oil content and meteorological factors were determined. The content and chemical composition of the oil varied throughout the year. Relative Chile humidity was correlated with accessions ICA-VC2 (-0.64) and ICA-VC4 (0.68). β-bourbonene, β- elemene, spathulenol, germacrene, caryophyllene oxide, α-humulene, and β-caryophyllene occurred in all accessions. Accession ICA-VC3 exhibited lower variation (22.17%), higher average (0.97%) essential oil, and maintained an average abundance of α-humulene greater than 2.6%, which is the amount necessary for phytotherapeutics. -

Renner3 BIOGEOGRAPHY OF LAURACEAE: EVIDENCE FROM THE CHLOROPLAST AND NUCLEAR GENOMES1 ABSTRACT Phylogenetic relationships among 122 species of Lauraceae representing 44 of the 55 currentlyrecognized genera are inferredfrom sequence variation in the chloroplast and nuclear genomes. The trnL-trnF,trnT-trnL, psbA-trnH, and rpll6 regions of cpDNA, and the 5' end of 26S rDNA resolved major lineages, while the ITS/5.8S region of rDNA resolved a large terminal lade. The phylogenetic estimate is used to assess morphology-based views of relationships and, with a temporal dimension added, to reconstructthe biogeographic historyof the family.Results suggest Lauraceae radiated when trans-Tethyeanmigration was relatively easy, and basal lineages are established on either Gondwanan or Laurasian terrains by the Late Cretaceous. Most genera with Gondwanan histories place in Cryptocaryeae, but a small group of South American genera, the Chlorocardium-Mezilauruls lade, represent a separate Gondwanan lineage. Caryodaphnopsis and Neocinnamomum may be the only extant representatives of the ancient Lauraceae flora docu- mented in Mid- to Late Cretaceous Laurasian strata. Remaining genera place in a terminal Perseeae-Laureae lade that radiated in Early Eocene Laurasia. Therein, non-cupulate genera associate as the Persea group, and cupuliferous genera sort to Laureae of most classifications or Cinnamomeae sensu Kostermans. Laureae are Laurasian relicts in Asia. A randomized block design was used in a 2×2 factorial scheme: two spacings (1.6 × 0.5 m and 1.0 × 0.5 m), with and without mulch, using five replications. In the end, the combination of spacing and presence and absence of mulch did not influence the height and diameter of the stem. However, it has influenced fresh matter: 8765.00 kg ha-1 (1.0 × 0.5 m, with mulch) and 6112.50 kg ha-1 (1.6 × 0.5 m, without mulch). The spacing 1.0 x 0.5 m was what provided higher dry matter (3052.14 kg ha-1). For the production of essential oil, the combination of spacing of 1.0 × 0.5 m, with mulch provided greater production (484.50 kg ha-1). -

E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT. Varronia curassavica (Jacq.) is a shrub and perennial plant native to Brazil that has therapeutic, anti-inflammatory and cicatrizing properties. The objective of this work was to study the chemical diversity of the native populations of this species maintained in the in vivo germplasm bank from Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The essential oils of 10 accessions analyzed in triplicate were obtained by hydrodistillation. Fifty-five compounds were detected, 46 of which were identified by GC-MS analysis. Essential oil yield ranged from 0.1 (VC-9) to 1.22% (VC-3) among the studied accessions. Three groups were formed by cluster analysis. Group A presented lower relative abundance of the compounds α- humulene (1.4%) and β-caryophyllene (8.5%). Conversely, in Group B, the most abundant compound was α-humulene (31.6%). Group C, with the greatest number of accessions, presented values of up to 6.1 and 41.2% for α-humulene and β-caryophyllene, respectively. -
