This functional planning study will refine the half interchange layout, identify the land required and confirm how access will be provided to the adjacent lands. About the Project The study will consider options to provide access to/from the west for 100 Street SE (Garden Road) at Glenmore Trail, for businesses and residents that rely on 100 l Street SE. A half interchange concept has been previously proposed. The concept, and na Ca potential variations to it, will be developed to address constraints, opportunities and ks wor long-term needs. ead n H Heatherglen er est Golf Course W Although the project will not be constructed for 20-30 years, we need to begin planning now. High Load Ramp What is a half interchange? Entry Ramp to the west (only for tall trucks that cannot The half interchange provides access to and from the west, while maintaining the fit under the underpass) required interchange spacing between Stoney Trail and the future Conrich Road interchange to the east. Why are we doing this study now? The Shepard Industrial and Janet areas are expected to see significant growth over the Glenmore Trail (Hwy 560) next 20 – 30 years. The City of Calgary, Rocky View County and the Province recognize that providing access to the adjacent lands is crucial for future development. The study will provide the information necessary to allow the right-of-way to be protected. Exit Ramp from the west Why not a full interchange? A full interchange at 100 Street SE will be too close to the future Conrich Road interchange to allow for proper acceleration and deceleration lanes. The High Load Ramps will be used only in rare circumstances and cannot be designed for regular use. A half interchange accommodates the movements with the highest traffic volumes, ° providing good connections to Stoney Trail. The other movements will be provided via existing and future local roads and as outlined in the Highway 560 Functional Planning 100 (GardenStreet SE Rd) Study. Calgary, T2A 6K4 calgary.ca | contact 311 03 Executive Summary This report describes the issues and challenges that are associated with goods movement in and around Calgary. These issues and challenges were identified through an extensive stakeholder engagement, which was conducted as part of The City of Calgary’s Goods Movement Strategy. The findings of this report will be used to explore potential opportunities for addressing the issues and challenges, through a subsequent review of how other jurisdictions address the issues and challenges and through a literature review of best practices. The engagement used several means to gather information from stakeholders in the Calgary goods movement community. These comprised: • Informal one-page surveys that were distributed at the February 2017 project kick-off meetings, which were held at meetings of goods movement and economic development industry associations and other groups. • One-on-one interviews that were conducted with stakeholders. These stakeholders comprised a wide range of perspectives: the provincial and federal governments, infrastructure and facility owners, emergency services, utilities, retailers, distributors, carriers, couriers, aggregates producers and industry associations. • Stakeholder meetings, which were held with four groups: o Operational Advisory Group (OAG), an external body set up to advise the Strategy on short term issues and solutions.
