Press Release July 28 2021 Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama PACIFICO Yokohama to celebrate its 30th anniversary on July 29, 2021 Opened in 1991 as the core project in the Minato Mirai 21 Project On July 29, 2021, one of the largest MICE*1 facilities in Japan, PACIFICO YOKOHAMA (Official name: Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama; Location: Nishi-ku, Yokohama; President & CEO: Katsunori Watanabe), will celebrate its 30th anniversary. PACIFICO Yokohama opened its doors in 1991 as the core project of the “Minato Mirai 21 Project” and has become a MICE hub of “Global MICE City Yokohama.” Over the past 30 years, together with the development of the city, we have hosted approximately 27,000 events and welcomed approximately 87 million visitors from Japan and overseas. PACIFICO Yokohama has been the setting for many international conferences, including APEC, TICAD, and ADB and has established a top record in Japan for hosting international conferences. On this occasion, the 30th anniversary of our opening, we have created a commemorative logo that expresses our wishes to continue to support the development of our community as a platform for knowledge sharing where people can join hands and achieve a connected world. We are also planning to hold various events in commemoration of our 30th anniversary. 30th Anniversary Logo ALL IN ONE MICE facility, PACIFICO Yokohama About the 30th Anniversary Logo The design was inspired by the shape of the three people standing shoulder to shoulder in the corporate logo as in the "the Tale of Three Navigators. Over time it has grown to 30 people, and in the face of an unprecedented crisis, we have reaffirmed the importance of “Communications among People,” and the image of hands joined in a circle with the world symbolizes our continuing determination to be a platform for “communications and knowledge sharing” towards the future.

  • Follow the Rules! Ride Bicycles Properly!
February 1 - March 31, 2009 http://www.city.yokohama.jp/me/naka/e/ No. 103 2009 YOKOHAMA 150th Anniversary of the Opening of the Port of Yokohama Follow the Rules! Ride BicyclesBicycles Properly! Do you use a bicycle daily? Recently, more people are riding bicycles instead of driving cars because of the costs of car usage and gasoline, out of concern over global warming, and/or for exercise to maintain their health. While bicycles are ridden easily and casually, a major new issue is the deterioration of the manners of riders – reckless and dangerous riding on sidewalks. In Kanagawa Prefecture, Naka Ward is among places notorious for the high frequency of bicycle accidents. As a result, in 2007, Naka Ward was described as a “zone” of bicycle accidents. Traffic manners need special attention. No-parking areas for bicycles and other rules are introduced here. Riders, observe traffic rules and ride safely! Have you seen these? Have you done them yourself? • Inconsiderate parking is not only dangerous, but spoils the town landscape - Bicycles parked on sidewalks interfere with pedestrians (particularly mothers pushing baby carriages). - Parking on braille blocks is dangerous for the visually impaired (braille blocks guide them as they move). - Leaving a bicycle for a long time could result in your being accused of illegal dumping. Bicycle thefts are increasing. Stolen bicycles are then often left on the streets. • To prevent thefts: - Double lock bicycles. - At the time of purchase, be sure to register the bicycle. Bicycle no-parking areas expanded - Park properly in designated areas. Last autumn, bicycle no-parking areas around Sakuragicho Station, Hinodecho Station and the Motomachi-Chukagai Station were expanded.
