El tiempo del Canon, desde 1898 a 1935, fue marcado por su impron- ta como hombre religioso (capellán de la Iglesia Anglicana de Todos los Santos en Quilmes), educador (Director del Colegio), y activo sostén de la actividad deportiva, tanto en el Colegio como en la comunidad. Durante su tiempo como Director, el año 1923 marcó dos cambios importantes en el Colegio. El primero fue la división del alumnado en cuatro “houses” bautizadas Lockwood, Farran, Cutts y Agar. El segun- do la introducción del rugby en la escuela. Esto era una novedad. Has- ta ese momento, en los colegios de origen británico, se jugaba fútbol durante el otoño e invierno; el rugby era sólo un deporte de club. A partir de 1920 en que el fútbol comenzó a ser un deporte rentado, su utilización como herramienta formativa en los colegios entró en duda, por lo tanto St George’s tomó la iniciativa e incorporó al rugby como deporte, medida que inmediatamente siguieron los demás colegios. Al principio esta nueva actividad contó con muchos detractores que favorecían la práctica de fútbol, pero con el tiempo, y considerando las ventajas que ofrece como deporte escolar, al crear espíritu de equipo, favorecer la integración de los distintos tipos físicos y fomentar la amis- tad con los adversarios, este fue ganando su lugar.
