Terry: East Harlem but would prefer Bushwick.

The Cuz: Washington Heights but would prefer the Upper East Side.

Why and how did you get into theatre?

Terry: The Cuz

The Cuz: High School Drama Competitions,

What is your directing dream project?

Terry: A film about the fall of the American Empire staring Michael Douglas, Meryl Streep, Chadwick Boseman, Kevin Costner, Lucy Liu and Salma Hayek

The Cuz: A play about 2 filmmakers writing about the fall of the American Empire staring Michael Douglas, Meryl Streep, Chadwick Boseman, Kevin Costner, Lucy Liu and Salma Hayek

What kind of theatre excites you?

Terry: Theatre where there is no dialogue; where’s emotion is expressed through physicality; where the audience connect with the work though movement and choreography.

The Cuz: Contemporary Dance

What do you want to change about theatre today?

Terry: Nothing.

The Cuz: So that people will be blown away when they see our work.

What is your opinion on getting a directing MFA?

Terry: A great idea! I don’t have one.

The Cuz: Depends who the lecturers are. Their last works and how relevant their works still are to the industry.

Who are your theatrical heroes?

Terry: Julie Taymor, Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde.

The Cuz: Es Devlin, Huzir Sulaiman, Samuel Beckett, Lucy Guerin.

Any advice for directors just starting out?

Terry: There is no single idea; It’s a collection of thoughts from a group of very talented people that you can actually stand hanging out with. COLLABORATION!

The Cuz: Make Mistakes. Enjoy making them; but make sure you do it out of town.
