Profile of the University:

The was founded on 28 June 1960 and represents an autonomous institution for , and arts. Today the university comprises 14 faculties located in the four major towns of the Autonomous Province of : Novi Sad, , , and .

The University of Novi Sad is now the second largest among six state universities in . The main University Campus, covering an area of 259,807m², provides the University of Novi Sad with a unique and beautiful setting in the region and the city of Novi Sad. In addition to the administrative building, the university campus comprises the faculties, the Student centre with two Student Dormitories and the Central Student Cafeteria, an Apartment Hotel for temporary accommodation of young teaching fellows and research assistants, the Student health centre and the Centre for Physical Education. There are also many other scientific, professional, cultural, information, sports and similar student organizations.

Having invested considerable efforts in intensifying international cooperation and participating in the process of university reforms in Europe, the University of Novi Sad has come to be recognized as a reform-oriented university in the region and on the map of universities in Europe.

Academic Calendar: Even though there are slight variations regarding the faculties, the academic calendar is: 1 October – 15 February (this includes the exam period usually between 20 Jan – 15 Feb) 15 February – 15 July (this includes the exam period usually between 15 June – 15 July)

Language of instruction / language proficiency:

Language of instruction: At the moment only the Faculty of Medicine offers full time studies in English. The Faculty of Technical and the Faculty of Sciences are accredited for studies in English, while the Faculty of Philosophy has the biggest scope of mobility having in mind the nature of its disciplines. Consultation - based courses in English can be offered at each faculty, with the academic coordinator’s/ERASMUS coordinator’s prior approval and supervision. University of Novi Sad/Faculty of Philosophy has a Centre for Serbian as a foreign language and offers to all incoming students/staff courses in . The courses are very helpful, popular and effective.

Language requirements English level B2 for exchange students:

Mobility groups exempted Erasmus+ incoming students will be asked only to provide, as from submitting language part of application, their proof of English language proficiency test : competence (and any other language competence).
