WELL-RESTED THIEM JOINS MANNARINO, SOUSA, ZVEREV IN SFS

 SEMI-FINAL PREVIEW: Defending champion has played for only two hours and seven minutes entering the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur semi-finals on Saturday. After benefitting from a first-round bye, the top seed routed 63 60 in a rematch of last year’s final before beating 63 63, preventing the Italian from the 300th win of his career.

With 19-year-old appearing in his fourth ATP World Tour semi-final, Thiem is not the youngest player left in the draw. He is, however, the freshest. Zverev has been on court nearly eight hours, which could play a factor when he meets Joao Sousa for a spot in his first final. Zverev dropped a set in each of his first three matches this week and saved two match points against No. 2 seed on Friday. Sousa, himself, has rallied from a set down twice in Nice.

Following Sousa vs. Zverev, Thiem takes on . The 27-year-old Frenchman arrived in Nice with an 0-3 record on clay in 2016. He’s 3-0 this week, including a 63 60 sweep of No. 4 seed Benoit Paire and come-from-behind victories over and . Mannarino is bidding to become the first French champion at Nice since in 2010.
