Kinesiology is an academic discipline involving the study of physical activity and its impact on health, society and quality of life. The Department of Kinesiology provides a basis for understanding health and human movement in many contexts and prepares students for a large number of academic and professional objectives. Core course work includes foundations of kinesiology, personal and community health, motor learning, and anatomical kinesiology. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree complete a supervised student teaching experience, while students seeking a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree complete internship, practicum or clinical experiences in professional settings. ➥➥ Sport Management This concentration prepares you for a career in activity-oriented businesses and includes course work in business and areas of specific interest as well as a 6 to 12 credit-hour internship. Students completing this concentration will qualify for a Minor in Business.

➥➥ Flexible Option This option allows you to major in Kinesiology and develop your own interdisciplinary program of studies in consultation with an advisor. Examples include sports journalism, sports psychology, health educa- tion and promotion, and human factors.

Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training The caate-accredited Athletic Training Educational Program (atep) is designed to provide students with theory and practice in the athletic training profession. This profession appeals to those who would like to work with physically active individuals in an athletic, health care, indus- trial and/or fitness setting. Throughatep clinical experiences, students are exposed to many state- of-the-art facilities and equipment including a HydroWorx rehabilitation college of arts & sciences pool.
