ADMISSION TO U.G. ENGINEERING / TECHNOLOGY / PHARMACY COURSES UNDER SPORTS QUOTA (2020-21 Session)

Jadavpur University has originated from National Council of Education established by the doyens of the then Bengal intelligentsia. Since 1906 the Council had to intensify its technical education activities through the Bengal Technical Institute later named as the College of Engineering & Technology, Bengal functioning as a National University exclusively under national control. Government of West Bengal with concurrence of the Government of India enacted legislation to give a statutory recognition to the National Council under the name of Jadavpur University on the 24th December, 1955. The Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Jadavpur University runs 16 (sixteen) B.E. courses, 3 (three) 5- year B.E. (Evening) Degree courses, 1 (one) Post B.Sc. B.Tech. course, twenty- five (25) Post Graduate Courses (M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Pharm/ Evening M.E./M.Tech.) and M.C.A. course. All the courses are approved by AICTE. Jadavpur University was declared, along with four other Universities of India, as the University having ‘Potential for Excellence’. The University has been reaccredited with a CGPA 3.61 on 4point scale at “A” Grade by NAAC. The University has also applied for NBA accreditation of the Engineering and Technology courses.

Following U.G. Engg/Tech/Arch/Pharm courses are offered by the University under Sports Quota:

Admission Information:

1. Downloaded/saved copy (pdf format) of properly filled in Online Application Form available from 22.01.2021 to 27.01.2021 in the University website www.jaduniv.edu.in has to be submitted on-line positively within 27.01.2021 along with all requisite certificates including sports participation certificates.

2. Eligibility for Sports Quota:

a) Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in Science Stream in regular class mode of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized Council/Board.

i) Individual pass mark in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

ii) Minimum of 45% marks in above subjects taken together as well as pass marks in English with a minimum of 30% in the said qualifying examination.

b) The candidates must qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE - 2020) of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for admission to Engineering Degree Colleges and must hold General Merit Rank (GMR) up to 30,000 only.

c) The applicants in the Sports category shall have to furnish original and attested copies of the certificate/s issued by the following Authorities in support of their participation in the relevant tournaments organized in current year and two years preceding only.

d) Candidate should have represented a state or equivalent in any National Championship (Junior/ Senior/ Federation Cup) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association OR e) Candidate should have represented state in National School Competition conducted by School Games Federation of India (SGFI) OR d) Candidate having position 1 s t /2 nd /3 rd for individual event/sports or member of Champion / Runners up team for team event/sports/games in Inter-Dist / State Championship (open) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association in the sports and games offered by the A.I.U, with percentage of marks & JEE rank as specified above is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.

e) For chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1700 and above for Boys and FIDE rating (standard) 1300 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.

f) For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The rating/ranking for chess & tennis is applicable on the day / week of publication of advertisement for admission under sports quota.

g) For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1 s t Division Club or above with participation of 40% matches either in the current year or any one of the two preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA or any State Association OR having the criteria as specified above for UG Level.

N.B.: 1. Such sports representations at UG courses are to be made within current year or any one of the two preceding calendar years (i.e., commencing from 1 st January) only.

2. The on-line application form for admission under sports quota is to be submitted on-line along with the scanned copies of relevant sports certificates issued by the competent authority of the sports bodies including the sports qualifications in the prescribed proforma as given in Annexure - A and Annexure – B for Cricket & Annexure – C for Football (for representing 1 st Division Club) duly filled in with official authentication & signed by the respective issuing authority. 2

3. (a) The candidates having WBJEE-2020 GMR up to 30,000 are advised to submit online application form available in the Jadavpur University website www.jaduniv.edu.in for admission under Sports Quota of Jadavpur University along with all requisite certificates including Sports participation certificates, as stated above.

(b) Applicants must send on-line application form, all sports certificates (in prescribed format) & other required certificates in pdf format at the email id: [email protected] and/or may send the print- out of online application form along with self-attested signed copies of all relevant certificates (sports & others) in prescribed format by post to the office of the Secretary, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, First Floor of the Integrated Building, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032 on or before 27.01.2021 positively. The university shall not be responsible for any postal delay.

The name of the provisionally selected candidates will be announced in the website along with date of provisional admission in the University website on 05.02.2021 (tentatively). Date of online admission under Sports Quota will be on & from 08.02.2021(tentatively).

4. i) Scanned copies of the following original documents (150 dpi colour in pdf format) are to be mandatorily uploaded / attached along with the application. In case any such is of multiple pages the same should be scanned as a single pdf. All scanned documents should be properly legible. Illegible supporting document may lead to cancellation of the candidature without any further communication. (a) Rank Card issued by WBJEEB - 2020. (b) Admit Card of WBJEEB-2020 (c) Admit-card and Mark-sheet of Madhyamik & H.S. examinations or equivalent. (d) SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD Certificate in the name of the student issued by the authentic authority of Govt. of West Bengal, if applicable. (e) Family Income Certificate of Parent/Guardian from the authentic authority. (g) All Sports participation Certificate from the competent authority. (h) Medical Certificate – General health and Eye.

ii) Coloured copies of the following two documents in jpeg/jpg format are to be mandatorily uploaded / attached along with the application. a) Passport Photograph of the candidate b) Signature of the candidate iii) Provisional online admission will be offered after verification of relevant uploaded/attached documents only. If at any point of time it is found that the candidate has not fulfilled any of the required criteria, his/her admission as well as studentship may be cancelled without any communication. Subsequently on a later date, to be notified in due time by the university, the admitted students will have to undergo the physical admission after verification of all original documents as applicable. During this process the student must have to submit a copy of the submitted online application form with original signature along with the following original documents – (a) Rank Card issued by WBJEEB - 2020. (b) Admit Card of WBJEEB-2020

(c) Admit-card and Mark-sheet of Madhyamik & H.S. examinations or equivalent. (d) SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PWD Certificate in the name of the student issued by the authentic authority of Govt. of West Bengal, if applicable. (e)Family Income Certificate of Parent/Guardian from the authentic authority. (f) 5 (five) copies passport size photograph. (g) All Sports participation Certificate from the competent authority. (h) Medical Certificate – General health and Eye

5. a) Candidates for all U.G. Engg./Tech./Pharm. courses (except Information Technology) will have to deposit Rs.5210/- on-line for Tuition Fees and other charges for the session 2020-21 & 2021-22 (for two years only) at the time of final admission except for the Information Technology Course.

b) Candidates for Information Technology course will have to deposit Rs.30,360/- (for the session 2020-21) on-line for Tuition Fee and other charges for the session 2020-21 (one year only) at the time of final admission.

Last date of Submission Online Application Form by Email is 27.01.2021 & By Post positively within 27.01.2021 at the Office of the Secretary, Faculty of Engg. & Tech., J.U. The university shall not be responsible for any postal delay.
