Investment in transport infrastructure projects involves a wide range of direct and indirect effects, out of which the present research work aims to highlight spatial network analysis and influence of road network in urban development. Materials and Methods: Spread and diameter of road network have been evaluated for five community development (C.D.) blocks representative from North, South, East, West and central part of North Twenty Four Parganas district respectively considered as study area on the basis of major roads. Space-potential map has been constructed on the basis of space-potential values derived at 12 urban centres throughout the district to assess the extent of regional accessibility. Again, it is of prime concern that the benefits of socio-economic facilities are not uniformly distributed over the study area and therefore categorical classification of two samples villages from each of the five C.D. -

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was born in Nigeria. Her work has been translated into over thirty languages and has appeared in various publications, including The New Yorker, Granta, The O. Henry Prize Stories, the Financial Times, and Zoetrope. She is the author of the novels Purple Hibiscus, which won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and the Hurston/ Wright Legacy Award; Half of a Yellow Sun, which won the Orange Prize and was a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist and a New York Times Notable Book; and Americanah, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was named one of The New York Times Top Ten Best Books of 2013. She also is the author of the story collection The Thing Around Your Neck. Saima Afreen’s poems have been featured in The McNeese Review, The Oklahoma Review, The Nassau Review, The Foliate Oak Literary Magazine, Friends Journal, Shot Glass Journal, Indian Literature, Visual Verse, Open Road Review, Episteme, and several other publications. She was invited as a poet delegate for Goa Arts and Literature Festival, Writers Carnival, Aliah University and TEDx VNRVJIET Hyderabad. O-Jeremiah Agbaakin holds an LL.B degree from the University of Ibadan. His poems have appeared in Poet Lore, Guernica, Pleiades, North Dakota Quarterly, RATTLE, South Dakota Review, The South Carolina Review, West Branch, Poetry NorthWest, among others. INFORMATION MEMORANDUM Rail Coach Factory, Kanchrapara – Project 1.0 Background 1.1 The Ministry of Railways, Government of India (the “Authority” ) is engaged in the development of railways. Railway network of the Authority is about 64,000 route kilometres and carries more than 6.5 billion passengers every year. For update on trends, prospects and opportunities, in transport sector in general and railway sector in particular, in India, prospective Applicants may visit the website www.indianrailways.gov.in for Vision 2020 document and www.planningcommission.nic.in for chapter on transportation in 11 th Five Year Plan. 1.2 In view of growth, witnessed in recent years and projection in coming years, in demand for urban and intercity mass mobility, the Authority has decided to enable setting up of a factory to manufacture rail cars powered by a dedicated propulsion system at Kanchrapara in West Bengal (the “Factory” ) for supply thereof on the basis of a long term procurement-cum-maintenance contract (the “Project” ) through Public-Private Partnership (the “ PPP ”) on Build, Own and Operate (the "BOO" ) basis, and has decided to carry out the bidding process for selection of a private entity as the bidder to whom the Project may be awarded. 2.0 The Site 2.1 The Authority has earmarked about 150 acres of land in Kanchrapara – Halisahar railway complex in North 24-parganas District of West Bengal for setting up the Factory (the “Site” ). Kanchrapara Eastern Railway Workshop and a railway colony is also situated in the Kanchrapara – Halisahar railway complex. About 10, 000 employees work in Kanchrapara – Halisahar railway complex. -
