Dr. Samrat Datta
Dr. Samrat Datta joined the department on 22.08.2006. He completed his B.A.(Hons.) and M.A. in Bengali from Jadavpur University. Dr. Datta was awarded Ph.D. in the year 2007 from the same University. His thesis was on Bengali Novel with respect to twentieth century western narratology. At present Dr. Samrat Datta is the head of the Department.
He was a Research Fellow in the Dictionary Project at The Asiatic Society, Kolkata (2001- 2006). He also served as a Part-Time Teacher in JU P.G (Eve.) course (2001-2005).
Dr. Samrat Datta had participated in the Refresher Course in Bengali and Orientation Programme conducted by the Academic Staff College of Jadavpur University in 2008 and 2009 respectively. He had attended seminars and presented papers in different colleges and universities.
Dr. Datta is an examiner of the Calcutta University since 2008. He is in charge of the Literary Sub-Committee and is a member of the Governing Body of the college.
Dr. Datta was invited as a speaker at an International Seminar organized by Assam University, Silchar held on 29.03.16 – 30.03.16.
He was also invited as a speaker by the Linguistics Department, C.U. on 04.05.16.
