Land Use, Landmarks & Planning

25. Diane Collier made a motion to issue a letter of support for the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development to engage in discussion with Artimus Construction regarding site control of a city-owned property on Park Avenue between 126th Street and 127th Street (Block 1751, Lot 34). The motion was seconded by Mahfuzar Rahman and passed with two abstaining (J. Grajales, M. Winfield).

Environment, Open Space & Parks

26. A motion was made by Edward Santos to approve the full design concept of Playground 103 CIII with the strong recommendation that the two safety gates be installed as soon as possible. Motion was seconded by Beverly Alston and approved unanimously.

27. A motion was made by Marie Winfield to accept the proposed design of the historic landmarked Mount Morris Fire Watchtower, the restoration of the missing pieces, the added safety and security measures and the landscape masterplan modification of the green and the Acropolis. Seconded by Eudora Ortiz and approved unanimously.

28. A motion was made by Wendy Hewlett to provide a letter of support to the Department of Transportation for the siting of a shipping container to serve as Crew's storage container on the north side of under the FDR Drive. In addition, the Committee recommended that the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) provide a low or no cost rental rate for the container’s space. Seconded by Keith Massey and approved with one opposed (J. Grajales).

Approval of Committee Reports

Adem Brija made a motion to approve all committee reports as a matter of record which was

New Business

1. Taft Houses Family Day

Application to the Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) for a permit to close East 112th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue for annual family day event on July 18, 2015. This event is typically held on the grounds of Taft Houses, which is not possible this year due to ongoing major capital project at this housing development.

Motion to approve by Mahfuzar Rahman, seconded by Carlos Diaz and passed unanimously.

2. Police Athletic League Summer Play Street Application to the Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) to designate East 109th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue as a Summer Play Street during the months of July and August 2015. The play street would be in effect from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Motion to approve by Mahfuzar Rahman, seconded by Carlos Diaz and passed unanimously.
