Крушевски поменик из 1713. бележи да је село Бежанија постојало 1512. године. Имало је тада 32 куће, а у наредних тристо година село се увећало више од три пута. У 18. веку становништво је било искључиво српско. После одласка Турака, за време Аустро-Угарске, досељавају се и друге националности: Немци, Мађари и Хрвати. Између два рата, у суседству села Бежанија никли су Ново насеље и Старо Сајмиште. Још 1923. био је изграђен први урбанистички план који је предвиђао да се Београд прошири и пређе на леву обалу Саве, али услови то нису дозвољавали. Три године после Другог светског рата, 11. априла 1948. године постављен је камен темељац Новог Београда и у пролеће 1948. на левој обали Саве је почело да се гради насеље окружено са свих страна песком и мочварним тлом. Четири године касније (1952.) је основана Општина Нови Београд. По броју становника Нови Београд је највећа општина у бившој Југославији. Јединствени је град “светла, сунца и будућности”. Он је одраз целе једне епохе, њене естетике и етике, и на најбољи начин илуструје квалитете и мане архитектуре тога времена. Са друге стране представља метрополис који и даље расте. Кроз векове, на ледини, по узору на Корбизјеове градове, никла је модерна урбана целина - „сведок највећег јавног речног пољупца на свету: ушћа Саве у Дунав.“ (1) Нови Београд се дели на месне заједнице, од којих једино Бежанија и Старо Сајмиште имају традиционална имена. Остали његови делови су постепено, кроз векове, постајали посебне четврти и добили имена према локацији или намени. Неке мање, неке више, а неке су саме по себи постале, и данас су својеврсни социолошко-културни феномени. The first historical trace of settlement of the territory of present-day Belgrade is in the time of Turkish rule… In the 18th century the population was exclusively Serbian. After leaving the Turks, during Austro-Hungarian times, other nationalities are also settled: Germans, Hungari- ans and Croats… Three years after the Second World War, on April 11, 1948, the foundation stone of New Belgrade was laid, and in the spring of 1948, on the left bank of the Sava River began to build a settlement surrounded on all sides by sand and wetland. Four years later (1952) the Municipality of Novi Beograd was established. According to the number of inhabitants. New Belgrade is the largest municipality in the former Yugoslavia. It is a unique city of “light, sun and the future”. Through the centuries, in the wasteland, following the model of Korbiz’s cities, a modern urban entity was created - “the witness of the largest public water kiss in the world: the mouth of the Sava in the Danube.” New Belgrade is divided into local communities, of which only „Bežanija“ and „Staro Sajmište“ have traditional names. Other parts of it were gradually, through centuries, becoming special neighborhoods and getting the names based on location or purpose. Alongside with urban development, they have advanced in all other fields, even in the field of culture. One less, the other more, and some have become themselves, and today they are a kind of sociological and cultural phenomenon. 13 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА МОСТОВИ КУЛТУРНИ ДИВОВИ BRIDGES CULTURAL COLOSSUES 15 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА Нови Београд се налази на левој обали Саве, a његов североисточни део почиње на десној страни Дунава, мало пре ушћа Саве у Дунав. Налази се северозападно од „старог“ Београда, са којим је спојен са шест мостова: Бранков мост Газелa Стари савски мост Стари и Нови железнички мост и мост на Ади. Европски пут E-75 пролази кроз средиште Новог Београда. New Belgrade is located on the left bank of the Sava River, and its northeastern sec- tion touches the right bank of the Danube, right before the Sava’s confluence. It is generally located west of the ‘Old’ Belgrade to which it is connected by six bridges: Branko’s bridge Gazela Old Sava Bridge Old Railway Bridge and New Railway Bridge and Ada Bridge. European route E75 goes right through the middle of the settlement. 17 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА 18 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА БРАНКОВ МОСТ Бранков мост (Мост братства и јединства) премошћава реку Саву и спаја Нови Београд са центром Београда. Београђани су овај мост понекад звали Савски мост или мост у Бранковој улици јер се преко њега улази у улицу названу по песнику Бранку Радичевићу. BRANKO’S BRIDGE Branko’s bridge connecting the city center with New Belgrade across Sava river. Citizens referred to it as the “Savski most” (Sava bridge), and the “bridge in Branko’s street”, as the bridge is an extension of the Brankova street, named after Branko Radičević, Serbian romanticist poet. 19 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА 20 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА МОСТ ГАЗЕЛА Газела је најпрометнији београдски мост изнад реке Саве. Дневно преко њега пређе више од 165.000 возила, иако је мост пројектован за око 40.000. Грађен је од 1966. до 1970. као део градског ауто-пута и ауто-пута Братство и јединство који је требало да повеже бивше републике СФРЈ. Мост је отворен 4. децембра 1970. у присуству Јосипа Броза Тита. GAZELA BRIDGE The Gazela is the most important bridge over the Sava river in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Over 165,000 vehicles per day cross the road, although the bridge is projected for around 40,000. It is a part of the city highway and it lies on European route E75. The bridge was opened on December 4, 1970 in the presence of Josip Broz Tito. 21 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА 22 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА СТАРИ САВСКИ МОСТ Савски мост је најмањи мост који служи за путни саобраћај у Београду. Поред путног саобраћаја преко њега прелазе и трамваји. Мост је саграђен за време окупације током 1942. године, јер је тада једини мост преко реке Саве био срушен. За време трајања Другог светског рата нацистички војници су овај мост звали Мост Принца Еугена, а након рата га је локално становништво звало Немачки мост. OLD SAVA BRIDGE It is the smallest road bridge in the Serbian capital and is used both for car and tram traffic. The bridge was built in 1942, during the German occupation, because the only remain- ing bridge crossing the river Sava at that time was demolished. During the World War II, Germans called the bridge “Prince Eugen”, and after 1945, citizens called it simply “German bridge”. 23 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА 24 НОВОБЕОГРАДСКА КУЛТУРНА ТУРА СТАРИ ЖЕЛЕЗНИЧКИ МОСТ Овај мост је изграђен 1884. и два пута је рушен. На његовом месту стајао је најпре први београдски железнички мост, преко којег је ишла пруга која је спајала Београд и Земун. Био је дугачак 462 метра и тежак 7.200 тона. Данашњи стари железнички мост изграђен је по завршетку Другог светског рата. Дугачак је 350, а висок 12 метара. OLD RAILROAD BRIDGE This bridge was built in 1884 In his place he used to be the first Belgrade railway bridge, through which the railroads went which was connected by Belgrade and Zemun. It was 462 meters long and weighing 7,200 tons. Today’s Old railroad bridge was built after the end of the Second World War. Двоколосечни је, има укупну дужину од 1.928м. Изградња моста је трајала у периоду 1975-1979. Пројектовао га је академик проф. др Никола Хајдин, дипломирани инжењер грађевине. NEW RAILROAD BRIDGE New railroad bridge was built across the Sava River. It is dual-track, it has a total length of 1,928 m. The construction of the bridge lasted from 1975 to 1979. It was designed by Nikola Hajdin, engineer and former president of the Serbian Acade- my of Sciences and Arts.

    2/16/2016 Brutalist architecture ‐ Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Brutalist architecture From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Brutalist architecture is a movement in architecture that flourished from the 1950s to the mid­1970s, descending from the modernist architectural movement of the early 20th century. The term originates from the French word for "raw" in the term used by Le Corbusier to describe his choice of material béton brut (raw concrete).[1][2] British architectural critic Reyner Banham adapted the term into "brutalism" (originally "New Brutalism") to identify the emerging style. Hubert H. Humphrey Building, designed by Marcel Brutalism became popular with governmental and Breuer, headquarters of the U.S. Department of institutional clients, with numerous examples in Health and Human Services, Washington, D. C. Britain, France, Germany, Japan, the United States, Canada, Brazil, the Philippines, Israel and Australia. Examples are typically massive in character (even when not large), fortress­like, with a predominance of exposed concrete construction, or in the case of the "brick brutalists," ruggedly combine detailed brickwork and concrete. There is often an emphasis on graphically expressing in the external elevations and in the whole­site architectural plan the main functions and people­flows of the buildings. Brutalism became popular for educational buildings (especially university buildings), but was relatively rare for corporate projects. Brutalism became favoured for many government projects, high­rise housing, and shopping centres. In its ruggedness and lack of concern to look comfortable or easy, Brutalism can be seen as a reaction by a younger generation to the lightness, optimism, and frivolity of some 1930s and 1940s architecture.

Widely appre- ciated, he is generally held to be an exceptional figure in the area of applied mechanics, particularly structural mechanics and equally in innovative construction practices. Well-known in international sci- entific circles, the President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and member of four foreign academies, has given an enormous contribution to the renown of Serbian engineering in the world. His associates and friends are marking his jubilee as a debt they owe him, the scientific public of our country and future generations of engineers who will draw upon his opus to find firm foundations for their own scientific and practical work. The bridge structure consists of four structures: two approach composite bridges at the banks and two steel tied network arch bridges over the river. The spans are 27,0 +177,0 + 3,0 + 219,0 + 48,0 m, totally 474,0 m in length. The heights of arches are 34,0 m and 42,0 m respectively. The arches and ties, as well as the girders of the approach spans, are steel box girders. The decks of the arch bridges are the composite reinforced concrete slabs with thickness of 300 mm.
