COHORT 20 GRADUATION CELEBRATION CEREMONY FEBRUARY 7, 2020 Green City Force is an AmeriCorps program CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADUATES OF COHORT 20! WELCOME! Welcome to the graduation celebration for Green City Force’s (GCF) 20th Cohort! Green City Force’s AmeriCorps program prepares young adults, aged 18-24, who reside at NYCHA and have a high school diploma or equivalency for careers through green service. Being part of the Service Corps is a full-time commitment encompass- ing service, training, and skills-building experiences related to sustainable buildings and communities. GCF is committed to the ongoing success of our alumni, who num- ber nearly 550 with today’s graduates. The Corps Members of Cohort 20 represent a set of diverse experiences, hailing from 20 NYCHA developments and five boroughs. This cohort was the largest cohort as- signed to Farms at NYCHA, totaling 50 members for 8 and 6 months terms of service. The Cohort exemplifies our one corps sustainable cities service in response to climate resilience and community cohesion through environmental stewardship, building green infrastructure and urban farming, and resident education at NYCHA. We have a holistic approach to sustainability and pride ourselves in training our corps in a vari- ety of sectors, from composting techniques and energy efficiency to behavior change outreach. Cohort 20 are exemplary leaders of sustainability and have demonstrated they can confidently use the skills they learn to make real contributions to our City. Cohort 20’s service inspired hundreds of more residents this season to be active in their developments and have set a new standard for service that we are proud to have their successors learn from and exceed for even greater impact. -
MTA Construction & Development, the Group Within the Agency Responsible for All Capital Construction Work
NYS Senate East Side Access/East River Tunnels Oversight Hearing May 7, 2021 Opening / Acknowledgements Good morning. My name is Janno Lieber, and I am the President of MTA Construction & Development, the group within the agency responsible for all capital construction work. I want to thank Chair Comrie and Chair Kennedy for the invitation to speak with you all about some of our key MTA infrastructure projects, especially those where we overlap with Amtrak. Mass transit is the lifeblood of New York, and we need a strong system to power our recovery from this unprecedented crisis. Under the leadership of Governor Cuomo, New York has demonstrated national leadership by investing in transformational mega-projects like Moynihan Station, Second Avenue Subway, East Side Access, Third Track, and most recently, Metro-North Penn Station Access, which we want to begin building this year. But there is much more to be done, and more investment is needed. We have a once-in-a-generation infrastructure opportunity with the new administration in Washington – and we thank President Biden, Secretary Buttigieg and Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, for their support. It’s a new day to advance transit projects that will turbo-charge the post-COVID economy and address overdue challenges of social equity and climate change. East Side Access Today we are on the cusp of a transformational upgrade to our commuter railroads due to several key projects. Top of the list is East Side Access. I’m pleased to report that it is on target for completion by the end of 2022 as planned. -
Public Hearing Will Pertaintoapplicablefares Asmodified
Proposed Changes in Fares, Crossing Charges, and Service Hearings will be held on proposed changes in fares at the locations, dates, and times noted below. The public is invited to comment on the proposed changes which are summarized below and pertain, as applicable, to MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), MTA Metro-North Railroad (Metro-North), MTA New York City Transit (NYCT), the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA), and MTA Bus and to crossing charges on MTA Bridges &Tunnels (Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority). The fare and toll proposals allow for a range of options to be considered; increases to fares or crossing charges may be less than the maximum amounts specified. Following the hearings, after considering public comment, the Boards of the MTA and its affiliated agencies will decide which potential fare adjustments to adopt. Space limitations prevent newspaper publication of each proposed new fare or crossing charge. For more complete descriptions of these potential changes, please consult information posted at MTA stations and on the MTA website, www.mta.info, or call (646) 252-6777. Following hearings, one or more of the proposed changes listed below could be adopted: NYCT, MaBSTOA, MTA Bus, SIR: LIRR & Metro North: Fares for Subway (NYCT), Local Bus (NYCT, MaBSTOA, and MTA Bus), and SIR: • Increase monthly tickets up to 4% and not more than $15. Increase weekly Base Single Ride Fare (currently $3.00 for Single Ride Ticket, and $2.75 for tickets up to 4% and not more than $5.75. Increase fares in an amount from 0 cash payment and Pay-Per-Ride (zero) to 10% on all other ticket types, with any increase greater than 6% held MetroCard®): to a maximum increase of $0.50 per trip. -

MTA Metro-North Railroad Penn Station Access Project
Penn Station Access Project: Environmental Assessment and Section 4(f) Evaluation 1. Background and Purpose and Need 1.1 INTRODUCTION The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is proposing the Penn Station Access (PSA) Project, which would provide one-seat passenger rail service to Penn Station New York (PSNY) on Manhattan’s west side for Metro North Railroad’s (Metro-North) New Haven Line (NHL) customers (Proposed Project). MTA Construction and Development (MTACD)—the successor to MTA Capital Construction—would plan, design, and construct the Proposed Project and related public outreach, and Metro-North would operate and maintain the service. The Proposed Project would provide new rail service from New Haven, Connecticut (CT) to PSNY in Manhattan by following Amtrak’s Hell Gate Line (HGL) on the Northeast Corridor (NEC) through the eastern Bronx and western Queens. The Proposed Project would make infrastructure improvements on the HGL beginning in southeastern Westchester County—where NHL trains would divert onto the HGL at Shell Interlocking1—and extending to Harold Interlocking in Queens, joining MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Main line. As part of the Proposed Project, four new Metro-North stations would be constructed in the eastern Bronx at Hunts Point, Parkchester-Van Nest, Morris Park, and Co-op City. Figure 1-1 depicts the Proposed Project’s construction area and service area, and shows the relationship between the HGL, Metro-North, and LIRR systems. The proposed Metro-North service to PSNY would begin operations after the LIRR East Side Access (ESA) project service to Grand Central Terminal (GCT) is initiated. The Amended Full Funding Grant Agreement (August 2016) between MTA and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) projects ESA service to begin December 2023. -

Chapter 9: Transportation (Rail Transit) D. RAIL TRANSIT EXISTING CONDITIONS The subway lines in the study area are shown in Figures 9D-1 through 9D-5. As shown, most of the lines either serve only portions of the study area in the north-south direction or serve the study area in an east-west direction. Only one line, the Lexington Avenue line, serves the entire study area in the north-south direction. More importantly, subway service on the East Side of Manhattan is concentrated on Lexington Avenue and west of Allen Street, while most of the population on the East Side is concentrated east of Third Avenue. As a result, a large portion of the study area population is underserved by the current subway service. The following sections describe the study area's primary, secondary, and other subway service. SERVICE PROVIDED Primary Subway Service The Lexington Avenue line (Nos. 4, 5, and 6 routes) is the only rapid transit service that traverses the entire length of the East Side of Manhattan in the north-south direction. Within Manhattan, southbound service on the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 routes begins at 125th Street (fed from points in the Bronx). Local service on the southbound No. 6 route ends at the Brooklyn Bridge station and the last express stop within Manhattan on the Nos. 4 and 5 routes is at the Bowling Green station (service continues into Brooklyn). Nine of the 23 stations on the Lexington Avenue line within Manhattan are express stops. Five of these express stations also provide transfer opportunities to the other subway lines within the study area. -

So, I would like to propose one that should not only be easy to keep, but fun: Spend more time exploring Lower Manhattan! Some neighborhoods are home to incredible history. Others have renowned museums and cultural institutions. There are those that offer the finest in dining and drinking. And still others with eye-catching architecture. We have all that and more. Lower Manhattan is the oldest neighborhood in New York City, rich with history. Walking our streets, you can retrace the footsteps of historical luminaries and game changers like George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Edison. When that walking around builds up an appetite, there are now tons of dining destinations to explore. From newer haunts like Federal Grille, Nobu, Augustine and Temple Court, to institutions like Delmonico’s, Harry’s and China Chalet, you won’t go hungry here. And if you just want to grab and go, you can hit places like Italian specialty shop Pisillo or the newest kid on the block, David Chang’s Fuku. If you are looking for a postprandial or happy hour hotspot, you could hang out in the taverns lining Stone Street, the award winning cocktail bar Black Tail, or Lower Manhattan’s newest subterranean bar and lounge, the Mailroom. Still not convinced to explore Lower Manhattan this year? Here’s one more KEEPING LM GREENER AND CLEANER reason: the best is yet to come.
