Aquatic Products CATALOGUE OF AQUATIC 4th edition PRODUCTS Graphic design and computer graphics: Communications Triangle, Gaspé (418) 368-5100 Printing: Imprimerie du Havre English translation: Wilma Zomer, Communicart, Gaspé (418) 892-5814 E-mail: [email protected] Legal deposit-July 2003 Bibliothèque nationale du Québec ISBN 2-550-40985-X Publication number: 03-0117 As Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, I am proud to be associated with Québec’s fisheries and aquaculture network (Réseau pêches et aquaculture Québec – RPAQ) as it publishes this fourth edition of the Catalogue of Québec’s Aquatic Products. Whether located in maritime or urban regions, our processing and distribution firms offer a diversity of products on both domestic and international markets. Sales of aquatic products abroad exceeded $220 million in 2002, an increase of over 24% Presentation when compared to the averages posted for the last three years. This performance is the result of unstinting efforts on the part of all sector partners, including fishers, aquaculturers, processors and distributors. Together, they take pride in offering consumers high quality products. Québec hopes to further develop the fish and seafood it offers to the delight of the most refined palates. Moreover, molecules extracted from this resource can help improve our health, well being and environment. These objectives speak of a responsible industry_one that endeavours to exploit both traditional and non traditional biomasses in a sustainable manner by offering a diversity of the products.
