The Company

ConnectEast is the owner and operator of the EastLink Tollroad which connects the Eastern Freeway in ’s East to Peninsula Link and in Melbourne’s South East. ConnectEast holds the Concession contract from the Victorian Government to maintain and operate the EastLink Tollroad through to 2043.

The Role

As a member of the Senior Executive team, the General Counsel & Company Secretary reports directly to the Managing Director with a reporting line to the Chairman of the Board. The General Counsel & Company Secretary is responsible for providing independent, timely and relevant legal advice and assistance to the Board of Directors, Board Committees, the Managing Director, Senior Management and staff.

The General Counsel & Company Secretary is also responsible for maintaining best practice corporate governance ensuring compliance with ASIC and other statutory obligations, effectively managing the administration of the Board and fostering a culture of compliance across the organisation. The role is based from our Head Office, located in Ringwood.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Law and admission to legal practise in . You will have worked in the infrastructure sector and preferably in a business that operates under a Concession contract granted by Government. You will have 5+ years’ experience at the senior executive level and have broad exposure to corporate and commercial legal work including negotiating, drafting and administration of legal contracts. Previous experience working with State Government department stakeholders will be highly regarded as will your experience in the Company Secretary function of a public or private company.

You will be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) and have the ability to communicate across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. You will be a team player and have a collaborative approach to complex issues to achieve common goals and outcomes.
