FEAR GOOD MOVIES SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS The 32th FANTASY FILMFEST will take place in September 05–30, 2018 touring seven German cities BERLIN - MÜNCHEN - HAMBURG - KÖLN - FRANKFURT - NÜRNBERG - FRANKFURT. 1 FANTASY FILMFEST accepts films in the following categories: science fiction, horror, thriller, black comedy, animation and animé, fantasy and action adventure. 2 About 50 features and 10 short films in a digital file (DCP, Pro Res or HD Cam / SR in order of prefer- ence) are selected by invitation. Each selected film will be screened in each festival city. 3 Due to the high number of entries, we ask that the submitted work has not been shown in Germany previously. Any theatrical, DVD or video release, and any television or festival screenings in Germany prior to the festival generally disqualify a film from entry. 4 Features and short films in any language other than English or German must be subtitled either in English or German unless dialogue or commentary is unnecessary for comprehension and apprecia- tion of the film. 5 The festival pays no rental fees. We choose to invest our resources in producing the best possible marketplace for your work by promoting it as much as possible, and by closely cooperating with world sales agents, producers and buyers. 6 FANTASY FILMFEST is a competitive festival. The winner of the competition (FRESH BLOOD section for director’s first or second feature length films) is selected by the audience. 7 There is no entry fee for submissions. District 9 – A little known fact about the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the movie By CvB Posted on 28 August 2009 Image: D-9.com District 9, the new film by the renowned film producer and Oscar-winning director, Peter Jackson, who was responsible for the production and special effects of movies such as King Kong and Lord of the Rings, is released on the big screen by Ster Kinekor today. Not many people know that some of the scenes for the movie were filmed at the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Pretoria in December 2008. The filming involved one of its Anatomy halls that was converted in a sci-fi biomedical laboratory with, among other things, a space-technology sliding door, and the Anatomy museum, while some equipment from the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital (OVAH) and the Biomedical Research Centre were also utilized. A pulsating atmosphere existed on the set in the week during which actors, crew-members and technical personnel spent time on the campus while life-like 7-feet aliens were ‘hanging around’. The movie not only features some South African settings but is mainly set in Johannesburg as the city that is being invaded by aliens from space. As we all know, South African born Neill Blomkamp, who was also present on the set during filming at the campus, was the Director while fellow South African, Sharlto Copley, plays the lead role. According to the preliminary reviews by critics this promises to be an excellent movie with amazing special effects that were executed to perfection. -

This book covers the linguistic picture of Flemish everyday life-world that is ap- proached from the point of view of the language structures typical for tussentaal (Flemish interlanguage), a spoken variety of Belgian Dutch. The study’s focus lies in finding those features of tussentaal that provide an image of daily reality and by means of which the speaker can model it in accordance with their needs. For the pur- poses of this research, a corpus of ten Flemish movies (approx. 18 hours of recordings, 83.000 words) has been put together. The movie dialogues are examined within the methodological framework of ethnolinguistics. FILM FESTIVALS ARE IMPORTANT: they advance the distribution of films and they entice the audience to go to the cinema within a defined space of time. National and international productions make it onto the screen that might otherwise never be seen.
