Working hours are scheduled daily Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Suspended platforms will be installed under the bridge but will not reduce vertical clearances or impede vessel navigation. Hydraulic suspension trucks and welding will be utilized during the duration of the project, which will temporarily reduce the vertical clearance. Welding and reduction in clearance will cease upon approach of a vessel. Questions concerning the bridge repair project should be directed to Mr. Jonathan Pitre, project manager with SPS at 603-312-3653 or Mr. Craig Hurd, ME DOT Resident Engineer at 207-446-1746. The project superintendent will monitor channel 13 and 16 and a safety boat will be on scene during work over the waterway. Mariners should exercise caution while transiting the area. Chart 13285 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) VERMONT – LAKE CHAMPLAIN – REVIERE RICHELIEU TO SOUTH HERO ISLAND – Bridge Construction – Construction of the new US Route 2 drawbridge (mile 91.8) between North Hero and Grand Island is ongoing. The horizontal clearance of the channel is 40 feet. The vertical clearance of the temporary bridge in the closed position is a minimum of 10 feet above Ordinary High Water.Vessels that can pass under the bridge between openings are allowed to do so. Mariners should pass with extreme caution and No Wake. Mariners are advised to plan their transits accordingly and exercise caution when transiting the area. Chart 14781 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) VERMONT – LAKE CHAMPLAIN – REVIERE RICHELIEU TO SOUTH HERO ISLAND – Notice of Temporary Deviation - The Coast Guard has issued a temporary deviation from the regulation governing the operation of the US2 Drawridge over Lake Champlain from North Hero to Grand Island Island at mile 91.8. Under this temporary deviation, the US2 Temporary Bridge will open on the hour between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from May 15 to October 15, 2021. The horizontal clearance of the temporary bridge is 40 feet. The vertical clearance of the temporary bridge in the closed position is a minimum of 10 feet above Ordinary High Water. Vessels able to pass under the temporary bridge in the closed position may continue to do so. The temporary bridge will be able to open for emergencies. Chart 14781 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) NEW HAMPSHIRE – PISCATAQUA RIVER – PORTSMOUTH – SML Bridge Repairs Mariners are advised that a safety zone will be established in vicinity of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on the Piscataqua River to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment while repairs are being conducted on the bridge submarine cables. The proposed safety zone will cover all navigable waters within a 100-yard radius of crane barges and associated machinery conducting bridge repairs. The safety zone will be effective from September 1, 2021, through October 31, 2021, but will only be enforced during operational periods where the crane barge and associated machinery are on site and blocking the navigational channel. The operational periods are estimated to be 8-10 hours surrounding morning and afternoon slack tide cycles. No vessel may enter, transit through, anchor in, or remain in the zone during periods of enforcement unless permission is obtained from the COTP Northern New England or a Designated Representative via VHF-FM channel 16 or contacting the Sector Northern New England Command Center at (207) 741-5465. Chart 13285 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) MASSACHUSETTS - SANDWICH – SCORTON RIVER – Bridge Repairs - Route-6A Bridge - From March 22 to September 30, 2021, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. 8’x 20’ floats will be used to gain access to abutments, piers, and underside for deck repairs and will remain in place until the work on each structure is complete. To maintain a navigable channel, work will only be performed from either the West or East side of the pier, never simultaneously. There will be no reduction in vertical clearance. LNM 33/21 (CGD1) MASSACHUSETTS - BOSTON HARBOR - NEPONSET RIVER – Utility Construction on I-93 Bridge – National Grid is replacing a 24-inch steel gas line on the southwest side of the I-93 bridge over the Neponset River between Dorchester and Milton. Scaffolding will reduce the vertical clearance by 4 feet. There will be no reduction in horizontal clearance . The work will be conducted at night. Temporary lighting will mark the channel. Constant burning red lights will mark the scaffolding. A safety boat will be on-scene. Work will continue through September 30, 2021. Questions may be addressed to Ray Ivey, National Grid Construction Manager at 617-992-6342. Mariners are advised to proceed at slow speed and exercise caution. Chart 13272 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) MASSACHUSETTS - BOSTON INNER HARBOR - CHARLES RIVER - Bridge Repairs – Rehabilitation of the Lechmere Viaduct (mile 1.0) which carries the MBTA Green Line over the Charles River from Science Park Station in Boston to Lechmere in Cambridge will be ongoing until October 31, 2021. The navigation span will remain open but subject to reductions in vertical and horizontal clearance. Temporary work platforms will be installed on the bascule span and arch spans to allow cleaning, painting, and structural repairs. The work platform will reduce the vertical clearance of the bascule span by 5 feet to 28 feet Average Water Level. Work barges and work boats will be at various locations and at times will reduce the horizontal clearance. Temporary closures of the navigable channel will occur. Working hours are from 0700 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Mariners may contact the on-scene work boat on VHF channels 13/16 for safe passage. Chart 13272 LNM 33/21 (CGD1) MASSACHUSETTS – BOSTON INNER HARBOR - CHARLES RIVER – Bridge Construction - Construction is ongoing at the North Washington Street Bridge. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vessels may transit through the work site in the open channel. Multiple barges, cranes and other equipment are on-scene. Work boats and push boats can be contacted on VHF Channel 13 to arrange passage if needed. Commencing August 18th structural steel installation will begin. Beginning the week of 27 September overhead steel installation will commence requiring 3-5 days of full channel closuers for the protection of mariners and work crews. Closures will only occur during weekdays with channels available on weekends. As a reminder there is a 100 yard safety zone around the work zone and mariners are advised to navigate in provided channels well clear of heavy equipment operations.
