Imlay + Horn the Politics of Industrial Collaboration During WWII Excerpts
The Politics of Industrial Collaboration during World War II Ford France^ Vichy and Nazi Germany Talbot Imlay Universite Laval and Martin Horn McMaster University M Cambridge UNIVERSITY PRESS i I 1 X List of abbreviations RkBfV Reichskommissariat fur die Behandlung feindlichen Vermogens RWM Reichswirtschaftsministerium SAF Societe anonyme frangaise Introduction SaSC Sachsisches Staatsarchiv, Chemnitz SHGN Service historique de la gendarmerie nationale, Vincennes SHGR Societe d’histoire du groupe Renault, Boulogne-Billancourt TNA The National Archives, Kew Gardens ZASt Zentralauftragsstelle In October 1944, two months after the liberation of Paris, Fran9ois Lehideux was arrested by the French police and charged with ‘intelligence avec I’ennemi’ - with having collaborated with the Germans during the Occupation. A product of the elite Ecole libre des sciences politiques with considerable experience in finance and industry, Lehideux had been at the centre of the Vichy regime’s economic policies, serving as commissioner for unemployment, delegate-general for national (industrial) equipment, and state secretary for industrial production.^ In each of these positions, he worked closely with the German occupation authorities. But it was Lehideux’s activities as the director of the professional organization for the French automobile industry, the Comite d’organisation de I’automobile et du cycle (GOA), created in September 1940, that appeared the most damning. From 1940 to 1944, the automobile industry had worked over whelmingly for the Germans, delivering some 85 per cent of its produc tion to them. Collectively, French automobile companies had made a major contribution to Germany’s war effort, and as the industry’s political chief, Lehideux was deemed to be directly responsible. -

Research Center New and Unprocessed Archival Accessions
NEW AND UNPROCESSED ARCHIVAL ACCESSIONS List Published: April 2020 Benson Ford Research Center The Henry Ford 20900 Oakwood Boulevard ∙ Dearborn, MI 48124-5029 USA [email protected] ∙ www.thehenryford.org New and Unprocessed Archival Accessions April 2020 OVERVIEW The Benson Ford Research Center, home to the Archives of The Henry Ford, holds more than 3000 individual collections, or accessions. Many of these accessions remain partially or completely unprocessed and do not have detailed finding aids. In order to provide a measure of insight into these materials, the Archives has assembled this listing of new and unprocessed accessions. Accessions are listed alphabetically by title in two groups: New Accessions contains materials acquired 2018-2020, and Accessions 1929-2017 contains materials acquired since the opening of The Henry Ford in 1929 through 2017. The list will be updated periodically to include new acquisitions and remove those that have been more fully described. Researchers interested in access to any of the collections listed here should contact Benson Ford Research Center staff (email: [email protected]) to discuss collection availability. ACCESSION NUMBERS Each accession is assigned a unique identification number, or accession number. These are generally multi-part codes, with the left-most digits indicating the year in which the accession was acquired by the Archives. There, are however, some exceptions. Numbering practices covering the majority of accessions are outlined below. - Acquisitions made during or after the year 2000 have 4-digit year values, such as 2020, 2019, etc. - Acquisitions made prior to the year 2000 have 2-digit year values, such as 99 for 1999, 57 for 1957, and so forth. -

Periodicals by Title
I think this is now the largest list of books and magazines in the world on Motor Vehicles. I think I maybe the only person trying to find and document every Book and Magazine on Motor Vehicles. This is a 70+ year trip for me all over the world. Some people have called this an obsession, I call it my passion. This has been a hobby for me since I was about 10 years old. I don’t work on it everyday. I don’t do this for money. I don't have any financial help. I have no books or magazines for sale or trade. I do depend on other Book and Magazine collectors for information on titles I don’t have. Do you know of a Book, Magazine, Newsletter or Newspaper not on my list?? Is my information up to date?? If not can you help bring it up to date?? I depend on WORD-OF-MOUTH advertising so please tell your friends and anyone else that you think would have an interest in collecting books and magazines on motor vehicles. I am giving my Book and Magazine Lists to Richard Carroll to publish on his web - site at www.21speedwayshop.com take a look.. All I am collecting now is any issue of a title. If you are the first to send me a copy of a magazine I don’t have I will thank you with a mention under the title. Because of two strokes and a back injury from falling down the stairs this is about all I can do now. -
