Some districts will be reopening pretty soon. Some schools opened in early February but only elementary schools at the moment. In the new plan, counties with seven days consecutively with fewer than 28 cases for 100,000 residents are able to open in person. In four counties, Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and Yolo, there have been at least 40 new cases per day per 100,000. Sacramento has the highest of the four counties. Sacramento has 47 per 100,000. The decisions for reopening schools is also in need of the teacher’s approval. Following Wednesday’s announcement, David Fisher president of the Sacramento City teacher association said ¨in person classes should not resume while covid-19 cases are surging and ICU capacity remains low.” With the roll out of vaccines, this will also be a factor.
