Letter to all Students, Staff, Parents, and Governors of Anglian Learning MAT I am writing to everyone on behalf of the board of Anglian Learning MAT. We have now been in existence since September 2016. It has been a very busy period for all of us in our schools and in our new organizational structure. We came together as 4 secondary schools each of which has a proud history and character. The four schools, Bottisham Village College, Netherhall School, and Bassingbourn Village College agreed to form Anglian Learning Multi Academy Trust. We all wanted to maintain and improve the excellent work that all the schools were doing individually. There have already been many examples of support and cross Trust working which have benefited our students. We are confident too that the MAT will save us some money overall by enabling us to sort out some major contracts together, such as catering, cleaning etc. We are already pleased to have started to expand and 3 primary Schools, Fen Ditton, Bottisham and Stapleford will be joining us in the New Year. We have also won the tender for the new Wing primary school which will be opening in 2020. We have appointed Mrs Prue Rayner as our executive primary head to help with this work. We have been pleased to see the senior leadership team of Anglian Learning develop under Kate Evans’ (CEO) leadership and the establishment of a secondary leadership group of the principals, deputies, heads of English, Maths and Science and the special educational needs co-ordinators of each of the schools. This has formed the basis of trusting relationships between staff across the Trust and provides a forum for discussion when we implement the required changes in the curriculum and GCSEs We have seen some great examples of our schools working together. For example, there was a very lively interschool debating competition last academic year. There has also been the Shakespeare Festival, hosted by Netherhall School, in which all the secondary schools took part. There are many other examples of links between our schools at Faculty and subject level which have enriched our students’ experience and learning. There are, of course, constraints upon us from outside, not least in our historically low level of funding but we are confident that Anglian Learning is on course to improve educational standards and student experience over the coming years. We are very grateful to parents, staff and governors for the hard work they put into schools for the students and I have personally been very impressed with the atmosphere and learning environment in all the schools. I would like to wish you a very happy holiday and Christmas and a happy new year. With best wishes

Dr Claire Lawton Chair of Trust Board
