Pro Natura Center Lucomagno © Andrea Persico © Andrea Pro Natura Pro Natura Pro Natura was created more than a century ago with the goal to establish the Swiss National Park. Today, it is the largest conservation association in Switzerland. It takes part in the preservation of almost 700 protected areas across the whole country, manages multiple centers such as Aletsch (VS) and ChampPittet (VD), and has more than 140 000 members and about 25 000 donors. Pro Natura Ticino Created in 1960, Pro Natura Ticino manages with passion and professionalism its major reserves: Muzzano Lake, Palude della Bedrin (Bedrina swamp) and Bolle di Magadino. Through edu- cation about the environment, communication, and political activity, Pro Natura Ticino acts to preserve the environment, the animals, and plants, and to promote a harmonious coex- istence between people and nature. Centro Pro Natura Lucomagno For its fiftieth anniversary, Pro Natura Ticino acquired and ren- ovated the Center Pro Natura Lucomagno at Acquacalda. A for- mer hospice for travelers on the Lukmanier Pass, and formerly known as Ecological Centre UomoNatura, the current center fosters the relationship between humans and the environment and promotes sustainable tourism. Food and accommodation Restaurant The restaurant, open in summer, offers a cuisine based on local products. The cozy dining room, with a stunning view of the mountains, accommodates up to 50 people and is also great for birthdays and private parties. Accommodation The hotel can accommodate up to 30 people in 6 double rooms with private bathrooms, 2 connecting rooms with a shared bath- room, and 2 dorms with bathrooms on the floor. The center’s camping area, the highest in Ticino, offers 15 places for tents and minibuses (max. 5 meters), yurts and bungalows for unfor- gettable nights. Guests can relax in the enchanting setting of the Lukmanier area or engage in activities offered by the center such as guided tours, confer- ences, and seminars. Offers for schools Pro Natura offers activities for groups of young people of differ- ent ages to bring them closer to the forest, the river, the ants, amphibians, flowering medows, large predators, and nature in general with an approach that is sensory, playful, artistic, and scientific. Seminar room Cozy, bright, and surrounded by beautiful Alpine scenery, the seminar room of the center is suitable for business meetings, conferences, yoga classes, painting courses, study days and more. The Pro Natura Center has its own stop: Acquacalda. There are also four daily buses from Oberalp- Lucomagno (with a change at Lukmanierpass). It is possible as well to walk to Acquacalda by following one of the many paths in Valle di Blenio. Particularly beautiful is the path from Lake Ritom and Piora through Passo dello Colombe or Passo del Sole. By car You can reach us in 45 minutes from Biasca, and in about one hour from Chur or Göschenen (via Oberalp-Lucomagno).
