COACHING (Status as on 01.02.2021)

Chief Rolling Stock Engineer (Coaching) or CRSE(Coaching) heads the overall Coaching activities of Eastern Railway and his domain of responsibilities are overall management of maintenance and operation of Coaching stock in the divisions of Eastern Railway. He is the technical head of all Sr.DME(C&W)s of divisions w.r.t maintenance of Coaching stock.

Dy.CME(C&W)/ER assists CRSE (Coaching) in all activities mentioned under his domain.

F. Introduction of PDLC( Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) based Smart Switchable Window and Coupe door in 1st AC coaches of HWH-NDLS Rajdhani Exp. by HWH Division:

PDLS technology will switch the glass from transparent to an opaque state by the help of switch. This will help to cut UV radiation and act as Privacy glass after curtains removed from windows during COVID precaution. In Switch Off condition, the window and coupe glass are opaque and in Switch ON condition, the window and coupe glass are transparent.

G. Train no 05553/54 Bhagalpur Jaynagar Spl Express train( PM – JYG & RT – BGP) has been inaugurated from BGP End of MLDT Division on 25.01.2021:

H. Renaming of train no. 02311/12, Howrah- Mail as Howrah-Kalka Netaji Express:

The has decided to run Howrah-Kalka Mail under the name of Howrah-Kalka Netaji Express. The train began its operation in 1866 between , then capital of British India, and . It was later extended to Kalka situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. The country is observing the 125th birth anniversary year of Independence movement icon “Netaji ”. In order to honour and remember Netaji's selfless service to the nation, Indian Railway has decided to rename the train no. 02311/12, Howrah-Kalka Mail as Howrah-Kalka Netaji Express on 23.01.2021.

I. Tree Plantation at MLDT Coaching Depot Premises:

Tree plantation has done by Women staffs of Malda Coaching Depot on the eve of the Republic day. This plantation has done on the unused vacant land of Malda Coaching Depot Premises.

J. Training of Running Staff on Troubleshooting of LHB coaches organised by ASN Division:

To make more skilled about latest technology introduced in LHB coaches, Mechanical (C&W) Deptt./ Asansol Division has taken an initiative to conduct training programme for Running Staff on troubleshooting in LHB Coaches on following topics:  FIBA (Failure Indication Cum Brake Application)  ACP (Alarm Chain Pulling)  Fire Alarm System  Brake Binding This will improve their skill to handle problems and will avoid undue detention en-route. Further, LHB Pamphlet have been made for same and distributed among all C&W personnel deployed on Platforms.

K. Quick Watering Arrangement:

In order to cater to the requirement of quick watering in trains, Quick Watering Arrangements have been commissioned at Howrah, RPH & Azimganj under Howrah Division and BGP & MLDT under Malda Division. As on 01.02.2021, the work for installation and commissioning of quick watering arrangement is under progress at Asansol under ASN Division and SBG & JMP under MLDT Division.

L. Automatic Coach Washing Plants(ACWP):

ER has Commissioned one Automatic Coach Washing Plant at CP depot under SDAH division. Installation & Commissioning of ACWP have also been planned at TKPR depot under HWH Division, Asansol under ASN Division & BGP depot under MLDT division for which purchase orders have been issued and Foundation & RCC work of Pit and Underground water tank is completed and drainage system work is under process at Asansol under Asansol Division.

M. Clean Train Stations(CTS):

ER has Clean Train Stations for en-route cleaning & watering at: i) ASN: It caters to 25 trains per day. ii) MLDT: It caters to 45 trains per day.

N. Conversion of rake from ICF to LHB:

Total Forty Three Train services with LHB Coaches (Total 55 Rakes) as on 01.02.2021.

O. On Board House Keeping Service:

97 Trains have been provided with this facility.

P. Bio-toilets:

Bio-toilet is a decomposition mechanized toilet system which decomposes human waste in the digester tank using specific high graded bacteria (aerobic or anaerobic) further converting it into methane gas, Carbon dioxide gas and water.

All in-service coaches have been

provided with Bio-toilets.
