The near utilization of surface water resources has made the public and Government to look towards groundwater resources to supplement the water supply. The ever- increasing demand has resulted in the greater dependence on groundwater and consequently resulting in depletion of groundwater resources in many parts of the country. In the era of climate change, groundwater may act as a buffering resource in the time of drought and it needs to be managed more intensively to enhance its sustainability. The change in groundwater extraction and rainfall pattern necessitate periodic revision of groundwater resources assessment. The report 'National Compilation on Dynamic Groundwater Resources of India, 2017' is a compilation of State-wise assessment carried out jointly by CGWB and State Groundwater Departments at periodical intervals under the supervision of State level Committee of the respective States/UTs and under overall guidance of Central Level Expert Group. The groundwater resources of India are assessed following Groundwater Estimation Methodology, 2015, which takes care of all the relevant parameters contributing to the net annual ground water recharge and extractions for various uses. -

FactorsProc Indian Controlling Natn Sci Acad Detrital 74 No.2 Mineralogy pp. 51-56 (2008)of the Sandstone of the Lameta Formation 51 Research Paper Factors Controlling Detrital Mineralogy of the Sandstone of the Lameta Formation (Cretaceous), Jabalpur Area, Madhya Pradesh, India AHM AHMAD ANSARI*, SM SAYEED** and AF KHAN*** Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh 202 002 (UP) (Received 7 February 2008; Accepted 6 May 2008) Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) deposits of the Lameta Formation crop out along the eastern part of Jabalpur basin on isolated hills and along the banks of Narmada River near Jabalpur city. The quartzarenite composition with little amounts of feldspar, mica, rock fragments and heavy minerals, are medium to fine grained, moderately sorted to poorly sorted and subangular to subrounded. The study suggests that palaeoclimate, distance of transport and source rock composition influenced the detrital mineralogy of the sandstone. By using Suttner and Dutta diagram, the mean values of the ratio were plotted and that indicate a humid Paleoclimate in this area. The plate tectonic setting and provenance of the sandstone were interpreted using the Dickinson’s method of detrital modes and Qt-F-L, Qm-F-Lt, Qp-Lv-Ls and Qm-P-K triangular diagrams. The petrofacies analysis of the Lameta Formation suggest mainly craton interior in a rifted continental margin basin setting. The plot of various quartz types on diamond diagram after [17] reflects Plutonic terrain. The probable provenance of these sandstones is Mahakoshal and Jabalpur Groups. UNIT-1 History of Indian Railways Introduction In the year 1832 the first Railway running on steam engine, was launched in England. Thereafter on 1st of August, 1849 the Great Indian Peninsular Railways Company was established in India. On 17th of August 1849, a contract was signed between the Great Indian Peninsular Railways Company and East India Company. As a result of the contract an experiment was made by laying a railway track between Bombay and Thane (56 Kms). On 16th April, 1853, the first train service was started from Bombay to Thane. On 15th August, 1854, the 2nd train service commenced between Howrah and Hubli. On the 1st July, 1856, the 3rd train service in India and first in South India commenced between Vyasarpadi and Walajah Road and on the same day the section between Vyasarpadi and Royapuram by Madras Railway Company was also opened. Subsequently construction of this efficient transport system began simultaneously in different parts of the Country. By the end of 19th Century 24752 Kms. of rail track was laid for traffic. At this juncture the power, capital, revenue rested with the British. Revenue started flowing through passenger as well as through goods traffic. Organizational structure Railway zones Indian Railways is divided into several zones, which are further sub-divided into divisions. The number of zones in Indian Railways increased from six to eight in 1951, nine in 1952 and sixteen in 2003. Each zonal railway is made up of a certain number of divisions, each having a divisional headquarters. There are a total of sixty-eight divisions. -

We deeply mourn the loss of Mr. Hugo Chavez and I am sure the House would join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Venezuela and in wishing them strength to bear this irreparable loss. Annual Training Camps The Railway TA personnel have to undergo 30 days of mandatory annual training every year to keep themselves physically fit and accustomed with military discipline, arms & ammunition, defence techniques, etc. The annual training camps were duly conducted for the Railway TA personnel of the six Railway TA Regiments during 2011-12. Tourist information centre of Rajasthan at Jaipur Railway Station. Recruitment/Discharge During 2011-12, 480 Railway TA personnel and 1 Officer were inducted into various Railway TA Regiments while 162 Other Ranks (ORs), 12 Junior Commissioned Officers and 1 Officer were discharged/retired from TA Regiments. Ramp connectivity provided at Bilaspur Station. Public Relations Indian Railways’ PR set up is responsible for disseminating information about various policy initiatives, services, concessions, projects, performances and developmental activities undertaken by the Railways. It plays an important role in building both the corporate and social image of IR. Publicity campaigns are launched to educate the rail users on various aspects of railway working including safety and security norms in order to create awareness among the masses. During the last financial year, a special brand building A view of dwelling unit, CLW township. advertisement campaign was undertaken entitled ‘We Deliver’. Special campaigns were also undertaken by IR on revised Tatkal Scheme, need for carrying identity proofs while travelling with Tatkal tickets, information about the various Summer Specials, safety norms at unmanned Railway Level Crossings, hazards of roof top travelling, trespassing of railway tracks, menaces of touts in booking of the tickets, drugging of passengers by strangers on trains and at railway stations, etc. -

The miserable condition of the farmers is largely attributed to those who have been in power for long. We have enhanced the Minimum Support Price and did take a decision to provide an amount of Rs.6000/- to each and every farmer under Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana irrespective of the parcel of land under his possession and have brought it into force.
