It populates vast territory of Southern Chukotka, Northern Kamchatka, Northern Magadan and eastern Yakutia. This hunt is conducted in heavy brush and timber and demands walking up to 10 miles each day. In certain areas hunters can hunt along the river banks and move in a motor boat. The smallest trophy should be expected to have a spread of around 150cm (60 inches). Some trophies can be in the range of 170 cm (70 inches) and more. The hunter may spend a few nights away from the base camp. The success rate on this hunt is 90 to 95%. Temperatures can range from +15 to -15 C (+60 to +5 F). Hunt takes place at elevations of up to 2000 m. (6600 ft.). The hunt is conducted on foot. Because of difficult terrain with rocks and heavy underbrush, it can be physically demanding. Kamchatka sheep is nearly as large as Koryak. It has a few subtle differences, which is enough for some biologist to consider it a different subspecies. Hunters should expect to spend up to 6-8 hours per day riding horses. A car ride from Bishkek to the hunting area takes about 12 hours, but it is possible to charter a helicopter instead for an additional cost. Daytime temperature is around +10C (+50F) in the fall and –20C (-4F) in the winter, at night it can drop to -40C (-40F). Hunters are required to bring sleeping bags, sunglasses and a sunscreen. Shots are expected within 250-400 yards range, therefore flat shooting rifle with good optics and a range finder are necessary.

All three subspecies can be hunted in Russia, and only Dagestan tur in Azerbaijan. Shooting over a distances of 200-300 meters is common. Hunting camps are located at altitude of up to 2500 meters (8000 ft.), and approximately 4-6 hours traveling from the airport. Transportation to the spike camp from the base camp is done either on horseback, or on foot. This is one of the most difficult mountain hunts in the world. The hunt takes place at an altitude of about 2800 to 3500 meters (9000-11500 ft.) and is physically demanding due to very steep, rocky and precipitous slopes. Hunting Western tur in Krasnodar region of Russia or in Abkhazia takes place at about 8000-9000 ft making it considerably easier than in other regions. Another option, baiting, is frequently used when hunting takes place in the dense forest. The average trophy is similar in size to a North American grizzly. Located on the mainland across the sea from the Kamchatka Peninsula it is a huge landmass with a small population, which guarantees very little hunting pressure. In the Spring bears concentrate along the shoreline, looking for seafood. During the Fall hunting season bears are either feeding on salmon in the many rivers and creeks, or on wild berries in the surrounding tundra. Fall hunt is offered only as a boat drift hunt with a helicopter drop-off. The bears are about the same size as the coastal bears of Kamchatka Peninsula, or . The average size of the bears trophy is around 8.5 ft. Usually a hunter can see up to 30 bears during the trip. In some areas along the sea of Okhotsk shore during the spring hunt it is possible to observe 20-30 and more bears from a single location. The success rate is essentially 100%. Many hunters choose to take 2 bears. hunting and fishing are available during the fall at no additional cost.
