OKC Zoo @ Two: Education Connection
Lesson Theme: Wild About Goats! When we think about goats, you probably think of familiar farm animals, but did you know there are wild goats, too? There are nine different types of wild goats: West Caucasian Tur, East Caucasian Tur, Markhor, Alpine Ibex, Nubian Ibex, Spanish Ibex, Siberian Ibex, Walia Ibex and the Wild Goat (where farm goats were domesticated from). Wild goats live in the mountains where they put their jumping, climbing and balancing skills to good use.
Lots of goats today live on farms. Why do you think goats make a good farm animal? They are raised for meat, milk and fur. Some goats can also be used as lawn mowers! Goats go by many names. Girl goats are called nannies. Boy goats are called billies. Baby goats are called kids, just like you!
