Seth is the current Regional Studbook Keeper. • Sichuan Takin interim target population size increased from 100 to 150 in 2017 Breeding & Transfer Plan. • Nubian Ibex building relationships with Source Population Alliance • Japanese Serow studbook back on track • REPORTS FROM THE FIELD • Denver Zoo along partners from Mongolia have continued their annual conservation work with “Wildlife of the Mongolian Steppe”. Gana Wingard [email protected] is the Mongolia Program Director. 2017 Field Report: ➢ 9 Argali (Ovis ammon), 2 Siberian Ibex (Capra sibirica), 13 Mongolian gazelle (Procapra gutturosa) and 3 Goitered gazelle (Procapra subguttosa) were captured and radio tagged. ➢ Satellite collars gathering telemetry data to assess movement patterns and habitat use within Ikh Nart Nature Reserve and outskirts. ➢ Since 2000, 240 Argali and since 2003, 70 Siberian Ibex have been collared. ➢ By assessing the movement patterns by both species, management decisions have helped to improve habitat and increase range and populations. ➢ If your institution is interested to support this program with dollars, equipment or training materials, please contact Gana. REPORTS FROM THE FIELD • IUCN SSC Caprinae Specialists Group has published their 2017 “IUCN Report on Tajik Markhor in Tajikistan” ➢ Heptner’s markhor (Capra falconeri heptneri) population on the rise due to international conservation success in protected areas and areas with sustainable hunting management. ➢ Listed as Endangered by IUCN 1994-2015; however, could be changed to Near Threatened. TAG GOALS • Complete 2nd edition RCP by years end-Turn in those space surveys! • Continue building relations with EAZA leaders during joint TAG meeting next month • Build on SPA collaboration with other species • Work with Program Leaders and Advisors • Expand Caprinae awareness-Identify Education Advisor • Identify new Conservation Programs Thank You!.
