NOTICE OF MASS LAYOFF

Dear Supervisor Kristin Olsen, Chair:

This letter is to advise your jurisdiction or agency that San Joaquin Valley College, Inc. ("SJVCi") plans to terminate the employment of a number of employees, which may constitute a "mass layoff' under the California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act or federal law. This letter and enclosed attachment supplement our correspondence, dated April 13, 2020 and April 20, 2020, notifying you of mass layoffs that would take place on April 14 and 21. These latest terminations will occur at a facility within your respective jurisdiction(s). Please see Attachment A for facility locations, the affected number of employees at each, and other important information. It is anticipated these terminations will be permanent and that employee separations will commence on or about April 24, 2020. The statewide total of California employees who will experience a layoff on April 24 can be found on Attachment A as well as the total number of terminations at the location(s) within your jurisdiction.

It is presently unclear how many layoffs may take place after April 24, or where they will occur, as those decisions are ongoing. We currently estimate that approximately 60 employees may experience a layoff in or around May 2020. It is also unclear whether layoffs will continue before or after that date. SJVCi will supplement its notice for any layoffs occurring after April 24. There are no bumping rights in existence, nor are there any unions representing the affected employees.

Pursuant to California Executive Order N-31-20, issued on March 17, 2020 in response to the COVID- 19 pandemic, this notice is given with as much advance notice as practicable. SJVCi was unable to provide earlier notice due to the rapidly unfolding events related to the COVID-19 outbreak, a situation that continues to evolve, and its impacts, including, but not limited to, a disruption in our business operations.
