Another year where Nordvision has beaten a record. Overall, 2015 was the best year ever when measured by the number of programme episodes our cooperation generated. The exchange of programmes and archive clips in particular rose sharply, while the number of co-productions decreased compared to last year’s record. Overall, the Nordvision cooperation generated 4,849 programmes. This is a new total record for the cooperation! Furthermore, the news cooperation generated more than 5,500 news items. Meanwhile, the Nordvision cooperation has developed in a number of areas. We now work together on social media, on hack day for developers and on data gathering regarding children’s and young people’s media habits, just as we share experiences about publishing technology. In 2015 and 2016 we are specifically working on a number of Nordic workshops for those responsible for social media in the TV stations, where we are developing new ways of producing and communicating public service content to, for example, Facebook and YouTube. The Nordic media researchers work together to gather data regarding children’s media usage, which gives the TV stations better opportunities to plan educational content for their youngest users. The excellent Nordic cooperation we have in terms of co-production and content exchange is something we will shortly be attempting to transfer to a Nordic cooperation in terms of digital formats. We must share knowledge, exchange and develop new smart solutions to make user experiences better, and develop solutions that reach the users wherever they are. Chairperson for Nordvision and and Nordvision for Chairperson Nordvision is probably already one of the world’s best and most extensive regional PSM collaboration, but we also want to be the best when it comes to digital content. And that’s initially what I planned on having my channel be but I actually discovered that there were some pretty cool things I could do without, you know, tearing the video apart. So, I just kinda started by trying certain plug-ins or combinations of plug-ins and figured, hey this might sound cool or this might look cool and you know, it just worked out. What was going on at the time when you joined YouTube. You were seeing other production company idents or flips of other sources? What were you seeing and what were your inspirations?.. searching around on YouTube? Yes, there were other YouTube channels that did some work, you know there’s an audio effect called G-Major and um, people would apply that to idents and logos. So that’s what kinda got me attracted to logo editing. And the plug-ins really came from me playing with the video programs I had at my disposal. Even though it wasn’t my initial plan it was mainly that exposure to logos from G-Major that made it the point of my channel. Because you were quite young when you started, right? INTRODUCTION Perhaps no industry has had more trouble coping with emerging technologies than the music industry. In a field once dominated by sales of records and CDs, the ease with which the Internet allows potential customers to access files free of cost has fundamentally altered the relationship between musicians and consumers. In some cases, musicians can ally themselves with emergent technology and seek some share of the benefits. The industry has done a marvelous job doing this with YouTube, for example. 1 In other cases, such as Napster, the music industry has had to seek legal remedies to protect its interests. 2 Every time a new technology potentially infringes the rights of copyright holders, those copyright holders have a spectrum of legal and business options to deal with the threat; the above examples represent the poles of this spectrum. The decision on how to proceed with any given technology is driven by a variety of legal and business considerations including what the legal options actually are, how much economic benefit there is to any one option, and whether that solution is going to be a permanent fix to a problem to name only a few. This paper deals with this question of copyright holders’ options in the context of StreamLabs’ mediashare program for use on the multimedia platform Twitch. Chung* INTRODUCTION In 2019, YouTube logged two billion users a month and received over 500 hours of content uploads every minute.1 With over 4.5 billion people using the internet every day, it may come as no surprise that internet users congregate on the world’s largest video-hosting platform to view, create, and share videos based on their common interests.2 The owners and creators of such content range from widely recognized figures, like musician Justin Bieber—whose channel has over 57 million subscribers—to more idiosyncratic individuals, like Steve1989MREInfo—who eats and reviews military rations for his fiercely loyal viewers.3 The vast and varied selection of content makes YouTube a particularly attractive hub of creativity and entertainment. Smith School of Business Technological advances for unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly referred to as drones, have opened the door to a number of new and interesting applications in areas including military, healthcare, communications, cinematography, emergency response, and logistics. However, limitations due to battery capacity, maximum take-off weight, finite range of wireless communications, and legal regulations have restricted the effective operational range of drones in many practical applications. Several hybrid operational models involving one or more drones launching from a larger vehicle, which may be a ship, truck, or airplane, have emerged to help mitigate these range limitations. In particular, the drones utilize the larger vehicle as both a mobile depot and a recharging or refueling platform. In this dissertation, we describe routing models that leverage the tandem of one or more drones with a larger vehicle. In these models, there is generally a set of targets that should be visited in an efficient (usually time-minimizing) manner. By using multiple vehicles, these targets may be visited in parallel thereby reducing the total time to visit all targets. The vehicle routing problem with drones (VRPD) and traveling salesman prob- lem with a drone (TSP-D) consider hybrid truck-and-drone models of delivery, where the goal is to minimize the time required to deliver a set of packages to their re- spective customers and return the truck(s) and drone(s) to the origin depot.

    The “Golden Age” of YouTube has passed YouTube, one of the most downloaded apps in the world, is losing its touch. Many would argue that the “Golden Age” of Youtube has passed and that the app is spiraling downward. In recent reviews, there are several complaints regarding unskippable ads, unnecessary censorship, and views getting deleted. Despite YouTube’s endless amount of updates and changes to its algorithm, many users are still left unsatisfied with its current version. An infamous new trend seemed to evolve with the shift of the platform’s original purpose: cycles of YouTubers rise to fame, peak at a certain point, and then decide to take a break from the app. The safe haven for uncontained creativity has transformed into a large money-making corporation. graphic by Emily Qian Several of YouTube’s original content creators have opened up about their discontent with the website, among whom is Ryan Higa. Kicking off his Youtube journey with lip-sync videos and later writing his own songs and comedy sketches, Higa’s channel, NigaHiga, became the most subscribed channel in 2009 and remained so for 677 days. But as Youtube progressed towards its monetization policy, Higa’s content shifted in order for his channel to stay afloat. In his video “Why I haven’t been posting recently…,” Higa describes how in the beginning of his career his sole focus when making videos was to maximize quality. “I started in a time where you could not make money off of YouTube and the videos, so the fun part was always trying to get better than the last video and just keep improving because the better your content was the more YouTube would promote it,” Higa said.

Dormant since 2010, rumors circulated for years with various proposals surfacing to reopen the park. Finally, a new life for the park officially began on May 24, 2014. Returning fans, or those who were simply curi- ous, found much among the line-up to offer brand new fam- ily fun. This is the dilemma lurking behind the daily parade of new media acts that we, as citizens, are expected to judge: From co-workers caught mid-kegstand on Facebook to politicians trapped in the YouTube minefield of decontextualized and mashed-up gaffes. But ethos points to a larger concern as well: At the precise moment where technology has given us, as a citizens, unparalleled power to act as rhetorical critics -- when anyone with a laptop and dial-up connection can effortlessly remediate, remix, and repurpose rhetorical acts from one context to another – we are uncertain about what the new rules of rhetoric are? How do we rethink ethos – in terms of character -- for a heavily surveilled, socially-networked age, where the distinctions between public and private are nebulous and all of our previous public performances are always only a Google search away? Concerned that our current, mass media age, standards for judging ethos as character (e.g., as authenticity, as the search for the “real” person) are both deadlocking our politics and providing no vocabulary of resistance to the new media era’s twin industries of information- gathering and surveillance, this dissertation proceeds in three stages in order to present a solution.
