Au 81 Vechicl3e Body Engg Notes
UNIT 1- CAR BODY DETAILS Cars can come in a large variety of different body styles . Some are still in production, while others are of historical interest only. These styles are largely (though not completely) independent of a car's classification in terms of price, size and intended broad market; the same car model might be available in multiple body styles (or model ranges ). For some of the following terms, especially relating to four-wheel drive / SUV models and minivan / MPV models, the distinction between body style and classification is particularly narrow. Please note that while each body style has a historical and technical definition, in common usage such definitions are often blurred. Over time, the common usage of each term evolves. For example, people often call 4-passenger sport coupés a "sports car", while purists will insist that a sports car by definition is limited to two-place vehicles. Body work In automotive engineering , the bodywork of an automobile is the structure which protects: ⦁ The occupants ⦁ Any other payload ⦁ The mechanical components. In vehicles with a separate frame or chassis , the term bodywork is normally applied to only the non-structural panels, including doors and other movable panels, but it may also be used more generally to include the structural components which support the mechanical components. Construction There are three main types of automotive bodywork: ⦁ The first automobiles were designs adapted in large part from horse-drawn carriages, and had body-on-frame construction with a wooden frame and wooden or metal body panels. Wooden-framed motor vehicles remain in production to this day, with many of the cars made by the Morgan Motor Company still having wooden structures underlying their bodywork. -

The Case of Saab Automobile AB from Core Capabilities Into Core Rigidities - a Trajectory Towards Demise
Master Degree Project in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship The case of Saab Automobile AB From core capabilities into core rigidities - A trajectory towards demise Giacomo Buzzoni and Magnus Eklund Supervisor: Evangelos Bourelos Master Degree Project No. 2016:148 Graduate School The Case of Saab Automobile AB From Core Capabilities into Core Rigidities - A Trajectory Towards Demise © Giacomo Buzzoni & Magnus Eklund School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg, Vasagatan 1, P.O. Box 600 SE 40530 Gothenburg, Sweden All rights reserved No part of this master thesis may be reproduced without prior written permission from the authors Acknowledgements First of all, we would like to thank our supervisor Evangelos Bourelos for his patience and effort in providing us with meaningful advice throughout these months of intense research. We would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude towards all our respondents who have allocated their valuable time to help us interpret this interesting case. Your passion, knowledge and commitment guided us through this journey, and we have enjoyed every single day of it. Finally, we would like to thank our peer students and all the people close to us for your support during our years of university studies. Without you, this would not have been possible. ABSTRACT This master thesis is addressing the case of Saab Automobile AB, creating a full historical reconstruction using primarily extensive quotes derived from semi-structured interviews with former Saab employees and other relevant actors. The aim is to depict and discuss the roots behind the company’s historically unique capabilities and its trajectory towards failure, together with the influence of General Motors’ ownership in this detrimental process. -
92-96 Fakta, Page 1

Archival Collection 26 Title: Karl E. Ludvigsen papers, 1905-2011. Creator: Ludvigsen, Karl E. Call Number: Archival Collection 26 Quantity: 931 cubic feet (514 flat archival boxes, 98 clamshell boxes, 29 filing cabinets, 18 record center cartons, 15 glass plate boxes, 8 oversize boxes). Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. Some of the files include Ludvigsen’s consulting research and the records of his Ludvigsen Library. Scope and Content Note: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers are organized into eight series. The series largely reflects Ludvigsen’s original filing structure for paper and photographic materials. Series 1. Subject Files [11 filing cabinets and 18 record center cartons] The Subject Files contain documents compiled by Ludvigsen on a wide variety of automotive topics, and are in general alphabetical order. -
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Dear Saab-Friends! Christmas and the new year 2018 is just a few days away! The year that passed will mostly be remembered for the ”Saab Car Museum Festival” in June, arranged by the Saab Car Museum together with the Saab Turbo Club of Sweden, Club Sonett Sweden and Svenska Saabklubben. This fantastic weekend we saw a great increase of members int the Support Organization. According to Peter Bäckström there where between 15.000 – 20.000 visitors over the weekend. A new Record. We Launched the new book by Gunnar Johansson about the cars during the Gunnar Ljungström era, from Saab 92 to Saab 900. The book sold very well and there is a small number of signed books left. Maybe a wonderful Christmas gift ? Check it out on the Saab Car Museum Webshop. Gunnar Larsson´s book about Gunnar Ljungström and his collegues is planned to be ready during 2018. We also presented the first ”Carlsson on the roof Stipendium” to Björn and Mikael Mohlin for the exceptional achivement of lifting racing with 2-stroke Saab to new and higher levels. This fall the outspoken Saab Director Sten Wennlo passed away, 92 years old. He was the Leader of the Saab Passenger car division during it's Peak time, 1976 – 1987 and saved the life of Saab by introducing not only the Saab 99 Combi Coupé (Hatchback) but also against the owner's will putting the Turbo into production. A Great Man... In the late summer we started up a Facebook account: Saab Car Museum Support Organization, to this day we have 316 followers and growing, we hope most of these (many are already) will be members of our Support Organisation. -
ENRESO WORLD - Ilab
ENRESO WORLD - ILab Different Car Engine Types Istas René Graduated in Automotive Technologies 1-1-2019 1 4 - STROKE ENGINE A four-stroke (also four-cycle) engine is an internal combustion (IC) engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes while turning the crankshaft. A stroke refers to the full travel of the piston along the cylinder, in either direction. The four separate strokes are termed: 1. Intake: Also known as induction or suction. This stroke of the piston begins at top dead center (T.D.C.) and ends at bottom dead center (B.D.C.). In this stroke the intake valve must be in the open position while the piston pulls an air-fuel mixture into the cylinder by producing vacuum pressure into the cylinder through its downward motion. The piston is moving down as air is being sucked in by the downward motion against the piston. 2. Compression: This stroke begins at B.D.C, or just at the end of the suction stroke, and ends at T.D.C. In this stroke the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture in preparation for ignition during the power stroke (below). Both the intake and exhaust valves are closed during this stage. 3. Combustion: Also known as power or ignition. This is the start of the second revolution of the four stroke cycle. At this point the crankshaft has completed a full 360 degree revolution. While the piston is at T.D.C. (the end of the compression stroke) the compressed air-fuel mixture is ignited by a spark plug (in a gasoline engine) or by heat generated by high compression (diesel engines), forcefully returning the piston to B.D.C. -
