Au 81 Vechicl3e Body Engg Notes
UNIT 1- CAR BODY DETAILS Cars can come in a large variety of different body styles . Some are still in production, while others are of historical interest only. These styles are largely (though not completely) independent of a car's classification in terms of price, size and intended broad market; the same car model might be available in multiple body styles (or model ranges ). For some of the following terms, especially relating to four-wheel drive / SUV models and minivan / MPV models, the distinction between body style and classification is particularly narrow. Please note that while each body style has a historical and technical definition, in common usage such definitions are often blurred. Over time, the common usage of each term evolves. For example, people often call 4-passenger sport coupés a "sports car", while purists will insist that a sports car by definition is limited to two-place vehicles. Body work In automotive engineering , the bodywork of an automobile is the structure which protects: ⦁ The occupants ⦁ Any other payload ⦁ The mechanical components. In vehicles with a separate frame or chassis , the term bodywork is normally applied to only the non-structural panels, including doors and other movable panels, but it may also be used more generally to include the structural components which support the mechanical components. Construction There are three main types of automotive bodywork: ⦁ The first automobiles were designs adapted in large part from horse-drawn carriages, and had body-on-frame construction with a wooden frame and wooden or metal body panels. Wooden-framed motor vehicles remain in production to this day, with many of the cars made by the Morgan Motor Company still having wooden structures underlying their bodywork. -
Building a 1:8 Scale 1936 Citroen Traction Avant 11A
JRH SCALE CARS www.jrhscalecars.com Building a 1:8 Scale 1936 Citroen Traction Avant 11A Introduction In 1934 Citroen introduced a car that was radically different from almost all of the other cars on the road. It featured front wheel drive and unit body (monocoque) construction. Without a traditional chassis, it had a low center of gravity which, with torsion bar and independent front suspension, gave it significantly better road holding. Front and rear hydraulic brakes also gave it excellent stopping power. All this was at a time when a Rolls-Royce Phantom II still had a solid beam front axle, leaf springs, and mechanical brakes (albeit servo-assisted). The Citroen was called the Traction Avant and was far ahead of its time. It was another significant step in the revolution in car designs that took place in the 1930s. 1934 7A Although there was a production hiatus during World War II, the Traction Avant was in production from 1934 until 1957. In total, some 750,000 Tractions Avant were built. A significant number of those post WWII cars are still running. Model The transformation of car designs between 1929 and 1939 is nothing less than startling. So a model of a 1935 or 1936 version would fit well with my other 1:8 scale models; a 1933 Gurney Nutting Rolls-Royce Phantom II, a 1932 Figoni & Falaschi Rolls-Royce Phantom II and a 1935 Austin Seven Ruby all of which, in some way, represented that transformation. Those other models also marked the high and low ends of the car market. -

Automobiles Have a Unique and Important Position in the Development of Modern Civilization
AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING SCOPE OF DIPLOMA IN AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING Automobiles have a unique and important position in the development of modern civilization. Modern automobile vehicles are inseparable part of the human life. Because of automobiles there is a tremendous save in time.Inspite of fuel shortage, pollution threats to the environment we cannot imagine a life without automobiles. With advancement of technology, role of automobiles is changing and it has become a true vehicle not only as means of transportation but for enhancing the social, commercial and economic aspects of the life of an individual. With rapid change in the technologies, Automobile vehicles have also undergone sea changes in their designs, aesthetic aspects, and Ergonomic considerations and most importantly in the fuel economy and alternative fuels considerations. Due to computer based advanced technologies; there is a modern trend for using computers/microprocessor based designs of engines such as MPFI, DI and CRDI in automobile engines. Alternatively the use of Mechatronics systems is also being extensively used in the modern automobiles. Automobile market in India is growing rapidly and it is maturing at a faster pace, not only in terms of size and variety, but in terms of technological advancement in cars. The Automotive technology is becoming more and more sophisticated with stringent pollution regulations and increased customer awareness. India is emerging as a key player for contributing to the growth of automobile industry at global level. India is the 4th largest car market in the world. With over 3 million cars added to Indian roads in 2010, the automobile industry provides direct employment to 6, 50,000 + persons and indirect employment to over 20 million people in India. -

Samhällsförändring På Väg Perspektiv På Den Svenska Bilismens Utveckling Mellan 1950 Och 2007
Samhällsförändring på väg Perspektiv på den svenska bilismens utveckling mellan 1950 och 2007 Eva Lindgren Institutionen för ekonomisk historia 901 87 Umeå Umeå 2010 Avhandlingen ingår i serien Umeå Studies of Economic History Copyright©Eva Lindgren ISBN: 978-91-7264-988-0 ISSN: 0347-254-X Tryck: Print & Media Umeå, Sverige 2010 Abstract The aim of this thesis is to give a perspective on the development of the Swedish automobility, and the automobility’s role for economic historical development between 1950 and 2007 by studying the interaction between the diffusion of the private car on national and regional level, the households’ preferences and the government’s regulations of car ownership. The first paper compares car diffusion in Norway and Sweden in order to find explanations for the national and regional patterns. We ask whether the Norwegian time lag and the diffusion process can be explained with national differences in income, institutions, infrastructure and population settlements; or if regional differences in income and population density have affected the outcome? The conclusion is that car diffusion in Norway and Sweden displays two sides of the same coin; the national levels converged, but the process did not follow the same regional pattern. The second paper examines whether the diffusion of private cars followed the over-all socio-economic and geographical changes in Sweden from 1960 to 1975. In particular, it asks if ownership per capita followed changes in incomes or changes in population density (urbanisation). The analysis is based on Swedish parish-scale census material that includes all car owners for the years 1960, 1970 and 1975. -
92-96 Fakta, Page 1

Saab 9-3 Turbo X Black is back. Thirty years ago, Saab stunned the automotive world by revealing its first turbocharged model. Now, with the Saab 9-3 Turbo X, for the first time Saab unleashes turbo power through XWD (cross wheel drive), an innovative all-wheel- drive system.
