Which was the victor? And a preparation. which was the victim? Was the victor the Californian who won The director, a well known #1 ranked individual, said "the the first bout? Or was she a victim of the first director who, attack all the way - touch right". The California fencer scored by justifying and reinforcing her style, caused her to lose the touch after touch against the hapless defender who could not next bout? There is another victim in this - let us not forget understand why her counterattacks were wrong. Needless to that unfortunate girl who lost that first bout and was say, she should have abandoned this tactic earlier, but that eliminated in the direct eliminations. She fenced well, with is not the point. What is the point, is that the California fencer correct instincts and strategy. In fact, she might even have advanced to the next round, her style and tactics validated by been doing precisely what her coach had advised, only to be the director of that bout. In the next round, the Californian frustrated by a director who felt that one need only march for repeatedly made the same attack - advancing while turning ward to be the attacker. • Fencing - Overview Fencing Is a Game in Which Is Played Between Two Fencers
COMPILED BY : - GAUTAM SINGH STUDY MATERIAL – SPORTS 0 7830294949 Fencing - Overview Fencing is a game in which is played between two fencers. Both the fencers use swords to attack the opponent and to defend self. There are some rules and regulations which the players have to follow while attacking or defending. Three different groups of weapons are used in fencing and each weapon has its own set of rules and regulations. Most of the fencers select one so as to specialise in using any one of these weapons. This is a sword exerting game where two fencers try to touch each other with the tip of their sword. The main objective of this game is to touch the other player and score enough points required to win the game before the opposite player scores points. There are different approved target zones based on the weapon used and players have to touch those target zones to score points. A Brief History of Fencing Fencing was initiated in the 12th century though the oldest surviving manual on swordsmanship dates around 1300. In ancient days in Rome and Egypt, fencing was quite popular and was an essential part of life in the form of swordsmanship. In the middle age, i.e. around 1400, the use of armours was introduced in order to make the game more defensive and interesting. • World Championship Fencing Individual Results
World Championship Fencing Individual Results by George Masin This report shows the individual event medallists at every FIE World Championship (cadet, junior, senior, and veteran). Fencing World Championship Individual Medalists 1921 European Championships (Paris, FRA - 1921.VI.10-11) Prior to 1921 there were a number of competitions that called themselves World Championships. These were usually challenge matches between two fencers each or both of which called themselves world champions. Prior to the establishment of the Federation Internationale d’Escrime (FIE) in 1913, however, there was no international body to sanction a real world championship. It was not until after World War I and the 1920 Olympic Games, though, that the FIE finally sanctioned a championship. In these early championships, each country was allowed to enter a maximum of eight fencers. From 1921 through 1936 (except in the Olympic years of 1924 and 1928) the FIE sanctioned yearly competitions called the “Championnats d'Europe” (“European Championships”). In spite of their name, non-Europeans were allowed to compete in them and so these competitions are considered to be the first world championships for fencing. It was not until 1937 that the FIE officially changed the name of the competitions from “Championnats d'Europe” to “Championnats du Monde”. Men's Epee Individual (1921.VI.10-11) The European Championships were held as one of the events during the Grande Semaine des Armes de Combat which ran from June 5 to 12 and included the French national fencing championships and other fencing events as well as shooting events. Only one European Championship event was contested: men's epee individual.
